So I waited until the ultimate edition came out to save my judgement. Just watched it today and, I gotta say, I knew /tv/ loved to be contrarian but this is the worst pile of steaming dogshit i have ever had the displeasure of viewing. This movie lacked a single redeeming quality. The pacing was tragic, the acting was as stale and the plot must have been suggested by a ten year old. I regret every second i spent restraining my brain from leaping out my ears. Just a warning to anyone else wondering if its maybe worth it: it most definitely is not.

The issue is that Snyder is shit tier. Batfleck is fucking amazing though, he nailed it o so many different levels it's crazy. I am looking forward to seeing those solo films, and his appearances in suicide squad. Affleck did a great job and I really don't care what casual fans think. Batman is a dark and brooding character, any film he's in should be that way. The reason people didn't have that complaint with the Nolan series is because they started before the whole MCU lets make a dumb joke every 30 seconds meme hit the scene and became the accepted "norm" for the critics and casuals. BvS is much better than say AoU or the iron man sequels yet the critics shit on BvS because it "is too dark." It's DC you fucking pleb, they're a much more serious company. If you try and make DC like the MCU you ended up with shit like Batman and Robin. The ultimate edition is a lot better too and helps some of the issues but it can't fix fucking Eisenberg. Dude has to go, and Cranston said he would still be up to play the real Lex if they come knocking. Eisenbergs lex basically set that up to happen in his first scene anyway. And I'm not some mad DC fanboy I read shit from a lot do different companies I just happen to refer DC's characters more than others. I'm looking forward to Doctor Strange and the eventual Holland Spider Man.

Also, the shitty ties in with Lex's stolen data files (WW, Cyborg, Aquaman, Flash) were emabarassing. It felt so off, it was like watching a mini-trailer for Justice League inside the movie.
Then these """"celebrities"""" came along and totally ruined my immersion in the movie. Neil Science Meme Man deGrasse Tyson, Anderson Cooper, fucking JOHN STEWART, etc. Just fucking stop! Use some B-grade actor to portray your in-universe media, not real like people.
I really tried to like it. A lot of parts, I did. However, the pacing was absolute horrible and because of that, the whole movie has no clear division in arcs or thirds/fourths, just felt like it was movie from point to point to drive how the implication of Superman and also why there is a need for meta-humans to stand up for the common man.

Because Batman doesn't see Superman as a person. He sees him as an alien threat who's not human. Batman is dangerously unhinged at this point. Robin is gone, whether it was Dick abandoning him and then Jason dying, or Dick dying,all he has left is Alfred. He watched people he was personally responsible for die...again and this time not to a mugger he can stop from happening again, but by an alien god ripping apart a city with laser eyes. Batman's ENTIRE motivation as a character is based around this need to prevent what happened to his family from happening again. he sees wayne tower go down, people who work for him, he's responsible for, he may regard them as close enough to family to snap. He's holding a fucking orphan in his arms in the beginning of the movie. He at this point sees Superman as a Supowered Joe Chill.
Him realizing Superman has a mother that isn't an alien, but a human mother, with a human name, just like him, and just like he still blames himself for his parents deaths, he sees that Superman is just trying to protect his family too. He has someone he loves too, and loves him. Superman isn't an alien god and a threat anymore, he's not the superpowered alley mugger whose pearls dropping was an entire building...it's a man, a person like him. Who genuinely wants to do good. This shocks Batman into rethinking his recent behavior, and when he sacrifices himself? That seals it. Batman realizes he's been a crazy asshole. He's killed people through negligence, he almost put a spear through a man's heart out of fear. Making *him* no better than Joe Chill.
my problem with the movie is that its, for lack of a better term, over snydered.
Every single fucking frame of this movie had some agenda, some overt (or in your face) symbolism or was just slowmo for slowmo sake. And everything was so god damn grimdark 2d4u.
Shit like that worked in watchmen where that was kinda the concept, but not so much in BvS. The pacing was also so horrid that it kills the movie.
I do agree with afleks batman though. That was decent.im still iffy on this superman. He looks more bored than concerned.
