The whole reason I originally watched this show was because I was interested in the white walkers after their introduction in the very beginning. After season two, I was sick of all the other bullshit going on and dropped the show. By the time the white walkers started having a bigger role, I no longer gave a shit, and I have no intenetion of ever picking the show backup. The wall was built in the early ages by Bran the Builder when they lost the lands North of the Wall to the WW and couldn't stop him. It's implied back them North of the Wall wasnt covered in ice to begin with. Back then North of the Wall was simply "The North", and the wildlings were the same as the Mountain Clans of the Vale.
And they haven't adressed that yet. Could be it's the same Night King from before... or a totally new one.
