To be fair, he was actively trying to kill himself AND Luanne and seemed pretty damn insane right up until his last moment when it was too late.
Also Peggy didn't kill him on purpose. It seems like she was actually trying to save him from dying after Luanna was safe, she just didn't know how to operate the machine (which he willingly jumped on because he wanted to let it turn him and Luanne into pork products).
Still a pretty dark episode but I think peoples' innate hatred for Peggy makes them blame her more than she deserves.

True, I still don't think it's too far-fetched for them to not feel too much guilt or remorse afterwards though. It's plausible that they didn't know the zap to his head cured his mental problems at the last minute. He was talking kind of quietly to himself after all.
For all they know, he was intent on killing himself and got exactly what he wanted, and all they could do was prevent him from taking Luanne with him.
