They did Varys killing Kevan scene in a way except with Qyburn killing Pycelle even though contextually it makes no sense with Qyburn's character. Just by merit of being book dialogue it still flowed beautifully to hear it at all but having just came fresh off of read that in ADWD on this very day it was also awkward to see the butchery itself.
In the book the scene ends when the little bird's show their knives. I was even watching out for pale powdered faces with darkened eyes on the kids but Varys does things differently I suppose.
I'm forever saddened that I won't hear Varys' actor speak those lines. However Frey Pie was great. Earlier in the show they establish vengeance with the story about the rat king so this was a great way of increasing rewatch value for the slightly less dumb TV plebs.

There is no direct line of succession here anyways so the person with the "best claim" will be crowned. Jaime was not present and Cersei was the mother of 2 kings and once queen herself, so her claim is not the weakest. Although Westeros never had a queen and is meant for kings only and with Jaime about to strangle her to death, I don't think her claim will hold very long. His niece Shireen is dead. His sister-in-law, Stannis's wife Selyse is dead. So the only place the line of succession can possibly pass is to his wife, the queen-mother Cersei. Technically she IS a Baratheon by marriage to Robert... though for some reason she's crowned as Cersei Lannister. Not sure why that is unless I missed something.
In any case, the alternative would've been an interregnum, which would just lead to yet another war of succession, and everyone who would've opposed Cersei's claim is dead now, so she's queen by default basically.
