No trailer in other movies.
No poster in the theater.
Only two weeks after release I had to go to a multicinema at the outside of the city to watch it.
Dredd is not a character with enough fanbase to make all those mistakes.

But OP, even if you don't like the money, you can't look at the marketing of this movie in the US and call it "successful." It's a textbook misfire and a direct and contributing factor to the movie have a weak theatrical run.
There is good marketing, and bad marketing. This is not the good kind.
