it was entertaining but nowhere near as good as the original. It seemed like they tried to cram too much shit into 2 hours and failed miserably. I swear they couldnt stay more than a few minutes on each scene because there was just way too much shit going on at the same time. Felt really rushed.
I felt zero connection or sympathy to the new characters and the old characters fell flat, with the exception of Dr. Okun who was awesome. The love story felt shoehorned in, Vivica A Foxs death felt like a slap in the face, and President Whitmores death was for basically nothing and unrewarding.
But man those action sequences were great, especially the last battle with the queen (minus the ridiculous bus part).

Star Wars 7 was a carbon copy of episode 4
It is what it is: a summer action flick. Overall enjoyable, but I can't dismiss its flaws. ID4's buildup was relatively slow and eventually pleasing (seeing the ships enter the cities, firing the beam for the first time). In ID4R, it's all rushed. No joke when I say there's quips left and right. Hiller's son pilots another alien fighter while saying some of the same phrases as his father. Some characters were utterly useless (the woman president, Dylan's mom who literally has like 5 lines in the entire movie). Favorite sequences for me had to be with the queen, I thought that was pretty fucking cool.
Hollywood just needs to stop making movies.

This was the single most stupidest part of the film... felt a lot like the moment in Attack of the Clones where the C3PO head on battle droid body spoiled the whole mass jedi battle at the end. I mean it wasn't as bad as some people claim, but damn it could have been so much better.
Like the president, they could have made her a powerhouse figure, a tough pillar to stand up and take charge in rough times, but instead they kill her off quick and for seemingly no reason.
Then the new characters. Honestly at most we should have had one new main character and they should have focused on him, and IMO it should have been Hillers son, not thors brother. Maybe the presidents daughter in a supporting role but not as the bad ass pilot who happens to be the gf of the shoe horned in white male lead.
Then the whole business with the kids/bus, spending an hour in the moon station setting up characters that we really dont give a shit about, the whole bromance thing, two (three?) shoehorned in romantic angles, and god awful dogfighting scenes that were filmed by an epileptic, and the pointless almost insulting deaths of two older characters.
But yeah it was a fun movie to watch but I guess some people just dont like that sort of thing.
