The problem is that there isn't a tradition of Islamic filmmaking due to rules within the religion about depicting certain figures or rules in art, so "Muslim" films are almost by necessity made by outsiders to the faith.
There's no Muslim analogue to, say, a Scorsese work or something that psychoanalyzes the internal mindset of what it's like to be a member of the faith because it's haram to do so.
Remember that Islam is on a several century "delay" from Christianity and are currently going through their heresy-bashing inquisition phase. We won't see real Islamic film for quite some time.
