Tough call. I recognize the impact twin peaks had, especially the first season and I love the characters but I have to say I prefer the sopranos for creating a compelling and well written show.

A series that suffered cancellation and was forced to be incomplete doesn't even enter the running. It's why Deadwood can't ever actually be one of the greatest. Sopranos is the best, and seems it will remain the best for the foreseeable future.
