It needed more episodes because there was too much stuff going on and characters that couldnt just be contain in just 8 episodes.

Also I like gay cop but he was so irreverent to the plot once he died.
>>
>>71228186
I think he was bisexual.
>>

Keep Rachel

Get rid of the fag operator

Make Vince a secondary character with a decent amount of plot presence

No more meme scenes like:
>Yummy I sure do love big coska Boyz
Or
>Where's your shoes you fat pussy
Or
>I'm gay and it hurts
Or
>You like ray? I like ray

This. I don't think Farrel can even carry a show like this but Vaughn was horribly miscast, he's not that good of a comedic actor, this role just felt weird for him. Can't start slow like this either. Felt like a cashgrab to me.

>>71226394
There's not a whole lot wrong with ti to be honest. See: >>71219293

Does season 2 ever get good? I honestly stopped watching it about five minutes into the second episode during the stupid speech about rats and water stains.
>>
>>71228540
Nope. The scene when Colin beats the father is the best scene.
>>
>>71228540
It has its moments

Unfortunately it has a lot of pointless meandering scenes like the one you just mentioned
>>
>>71226394
Season 2 is literally fine as it is. If you didn't like it it's a good indication you're a complete fucking pleb.
>>
>>71228633
>Water stain scene
>Pointless

It's the catalyst for Frank's entire arc what the fuck is wrong with you? He feels this world that he's built as a straight guy, away from the gangster life, is fragile, feeble, could go at any time. The WHOLE SHOW for Frank is him taking back his life the only way he knows how: Being a gangster.

The fucking rat thing comes back at the end when he sees his father in the desert. Christ this board is filled with the most moronic of morons.

>don't have a 10 minute monologue about papier-mâché.
>don't have a shootout scene just because season 1 did
>remove gay cop or at least ramp up on the incest
>make Vince's wife or Rachel McAdams get nude at least once during the season and if you can't cut the latter character entirely
>make sure to include another pizza cameo for maximum pottery
>rip off David Lynch a little more
>push the premiere date to 2016 so you have more time to polish the script

And there you go a solid season of tv
>>
You know Ray, it's a dog-eat-dog world out there, and I'm a Chinaman
>>
>>71228813
>don't have a shootout scene just because season 1 did

The shootout scene for S2 was 5x the shootout scene from S1 because the characters actually shined.

>remove gay cop or at least ramp up on the incest

Could go either way really. Gay cop didn't add a whole lot, doesn't take away a whole lot.

>make Vince's wife or Rachel McAdams get nude at least once during the season and if you can't cut the latter character entirely

What the fuck? How does this improve anything?
>>
>>71228443
There were tons of thibgs wrong. Mainly that there were too many characters.

Pizza had a good idea but no plot ever happened in the sohiwit was just jarring events that barely related. And seeing as there was no actual plot resolution but only character stories, the fact that we never cared for any character is bad writing. Even worse is that all the deaths are laughable tropes. Even worse than that is that the tropes are wrong for each character except fag cop.

S2 is a horrible mess. If you think it was good pls fight me.
>>
>>71228999
>And seeing as there was no actual plot resolution but only character stories

What's wrong with this? The more I discuss TD S2 with individuals the more I see people are just upset we didn't get a happy ending.

>the fact that we never cared for any character is bad writing

How is a personal problem a fault of the show? Learning that Woodrough was a veteran of that shitfest of a war only to be relegated to being a CHP officer, then his mother stealing every lat cent he made from the war, that shit broke my heart. Velcoro doing what any man would want to do after their wide was raped, seeing him deal with the fact that his son may not be his son, shit's sad. Frank taking his life back after being jerked around for half the season was amazing to watch. Ani giving Velcoro his redemption was heartwarming. Gay cop and Velcoro's deaths were great. They refused to accept who they are and were punished for it. Frank's death was phenomenal.

Give Pizzolatto more time to write the show. Didn't Season 1 take him 2 years (or something close to that)? Go with one director for all eight episodes instead of fucking Justin Lin and shitty HBO regulars (Jeremey Powdesa, Miguel Sapochnik)

I actually liked Taylor Kitsch's character and wish he got more screentime. Literally did nothing wrong
>>
>>71228344
>Vaughn was terribly miscast

He was honestly my favorite part of the show. Some lines were retarded like the cavity thing and blue balls in my heart but his acting was good.

I really don't get the love for Farrell either. Deadbeat dad/crooked cop but deep down he's a good guy is not really all that interesting imo and Farrell sounds all wrong anytime he plays an American character.

Season 1 was far better though and none of these people come close to McConabased.
>>
>>71230398

>>
>>71226394
The gay one was good. You have objectively bad taste.
>>
>>71226452
this would be a good start, pizza was so butthurt over season one he put a fake fukushima in S2 as a slam.
He thought Cary was ruining S1 when in reality, he made it what it was.

It's not that we didn't get a happy ending, it's that we didn't get an ending at all. So many plot points and mysteries were alluded to or presented and never resolved. Some were never even explored.

Which ones?

Not him but I will say I didn't really feel there were plot holes exactly but some things were poorly done.

My biggest complaint is the Mexicans finding Frank at the end. I understand that it was supposed to be kind of Greek tragedy style, Ray was done in by his love for his son and Frank was done in by his pride but the way it was done with Frank was dumb.

People watching for Ray around his sons school makes sense they knew about him and the thought Ray might try to say goodbye was reasonable but the Mexicans literally just roll up on Frank at a random traffic light while he's in a different car and had been living in hiding for days. The show gave no indication they were tipped off or were following him so its as if they're just super lucky or omnipotent, either option is stupid.

Ray's revelation about the photographer being the kid from the picture was also very unsatisfying. When Marty realized the house had been painted in S1 it felt believable, but if Rust just suddenly said "omg that lawnmower I talked to one time had scars on his face!" That would have been pretty lame but that's basically what Ray's revelation was like.

The Armenians, no?

I'd say they're about the same. Ray put it together because Caspere's secretary was also on the movie set as the photographer the day they went to see him. Couple that with the fact that the broad herself was at Caspere's parties.
>>
>>71231660
Pls show me the scene where the Mexicans are tipped off to Franks location. If you're just saying we're supposed to assume then I would say "assume x happened off screen" is evidence of poor writing.

They didn't know the secretary was the girl in the picture he just knew the photographer was the boy. When they got there they were surprised to see her and she told them she was his sister. Also I'm not sure they knew she was at the parties she said she dyed her hair or some shit so Caspeare wouldn't know when she started working for him, I don't think they knew that's how she found him until she told them.

Actually a major and obvious fix for True Detective S02 would involve lots of bare assed McAdams.
>>

They did from photos.

>Pls show me the scene where the Mexicans are tipped off to Franks location. If you're just saying we're supposed to assume then I would say "assume x happened off screen" is evidence of poor writing.

I always assumed it because of the look the Armenians give each other, but yeah some actual tip off scene would be nice.

I will have to go back and watch it again. Way I remember it she explained it all to them they didn't know and were just there cause Ray realized he was the boy from the photograph. Maybe I'm mistaken though.

At the end of the day though I think the S1 was story was satisfying because it was so tight. There was this feeling like everything in it was connected to something else and in the end it all came full circle. S2 felt more like "hey a set of basically random circumstances converged to create this crazy situation!" And honestly that's probably more realistic but its not what I want in a story.

Uhhh...we had 8 hours to cram a large self-contained storyline featuring several main characters. Having additional time would have helped. As you said, he didn't add a whole lot so he wouldn't have been missed.
