Why was the ghost of Bill hostile to the family before the Warrens arrived to england?
Were there any demon at Einfield before they arrived? Something just does not ad up

the ghost was hostile because it was being controlled by Valek, who was attempting to lure the Warren's there so that it could murder them both.
Valek is a chief demon from hell and Elizabeth Warren was stopping hell's army from possessing humans on earth so satan must have sent Valek to get rid of her and her husband.

But wasnt Valek from America?!

Guess what: the nun was added in reshoots because they needed a spooky adversary audiences could identify and they weren't getting that from Bill.
This is why it doesn't make sense.

They just jammed it together in order to make a movie about The Enfield Poltergeist
God this movie was so bad.

Yes the demon was there before they arrived and it really doesn't make any sense why it would stay at some random house in England. Probably because of >>71103576

You're half right, there was always a second adversary in the form of a black horned CGI demon, you even catch a glimpse of this right before the nun is vanquished in the climax when she reverts to her true form, the horned CGI demon. Wan came up with the idea to change the horned demon into the nun which they added in through reshoots.
Did you know the letters in the letters on the book shelves of Elizabeth's study spelled out "Valak"???

So basically Wan didn't have a spooky ghost that he thought was p. good, so he shot the whole thing knowing he had to get back and add a spooky monster and not have it be just a boring black horned demon.
Lo and behold, Lorraine Warren herself said she had a spirit that haunts her, which was just what Wan needed for his movie about Lorraine being haunted and questioning her faith, that Lorraine, always on time.
Anyway, the nun is there for general spooks and to connect the Amityville case to the Enfield one, working as a bad omen for things to come, and as a short twist that's not really a twist but sorta is.
So we got Bill The Friendly Ghost doing shit while being controlled by Valek, who is in turn disguised as a spooky nun to mock Lorraine and her faith. In the end the magic asspull makes Lorraine see that Valek is there and with her God powers, the demon is sent back to hell, Bill is free and erryone earns their happy endings.
Now, the Crooked Man? No fucking clue.
But it's not like I can't complain, this really happened, remember? :^)But for real, still loved the movie, fantastic direction. Too bad Conjuring 3 won't have based Wan
