Caught Son of Saul last night. It was kinda interesting how focused the film was on him, there's barely a moment where it isn't entirely showing his face or the back of his head. After about 30 minutes it felt gimmicky because the entire setting and scenario he found himself in was near enough always out of focus and blurred in the background or mixed in with varying sounds that made it unintelligible at times. The decision to entirely focus on Saul is a head-scratcher too because he has no change in expression or demeanour right til the end, felt rather uninteresting and emotionally distant for most of the film. The Germans were as expected, cartoony. The dancing scene was ridiculous.

A lot of the films on here are great, but many I don't feel like watching because I don't have an interest in the genre, the setting, the director, or the actors. I don't understand why people force themselves to watch a bunch of films on "patrician" lists, even if they don't like many they watch. Hail Caesar is decent, it's hardly trash. It's just mediocre, and from the Coen Brothers it could feel bad compared to most of their stuff.
It's an entertaining screwball comedy, but it works a lot better if you're into the studio system and 50's Hollywood. If someone didn't give a shit about it I can see it being annoying.

Yes, the lists include films you probably should eventually get around to seeing.
But what's the rush?
We know they are good, so unless you are studying film or something there is no reason to only watch those on that list and ignore everything else.
Making people feel inadequate because they haven't seen a certain percentage is completely meaningless from the perspective of a casual film watcher.
Stop ramming dildos so hard and fast up your own asses. It's not going to do anything except artificially inflate your egos.
You could watch everything on that list and then some but if you watch films for the wrong reasons it won't mean shit because you won't learn anything except how to name drop.
Just let people do their own things.
It's more fun when there are people with wide and varied tastes anyway.

Sometimes I think the yearning for love can suffice. I've never been deeply in love, so perhaps I'm missing some, but I still have expectations as to what love is like and I long for the feeling, so seeing the concept in film is still relatable.
