I really liked the battle in this episode.
It's the first time this show has ever made me feel like it actually KNEW how to pull off battles on the scale it was given.
The first big battle I recall in GoT was the first season's battle where the Imp blacked out and the battle was presumed.
At that point I thought that was how it was going to have to be in this show from now on and it saddened me a little.
The second was the siege of King's Landing with Geoffrey on the defense and it felt better but still not quite there.
This was the third "big battle" in GoT and it's finally starting to feel like something of an actual battle. Jon's uncut swordfighting and good establishing shots with lots of units in formation were a great call.
This episode really gave me hope for coming battles in this series.

I think I actually just hate Show-Sansa as a character now, and not just as an adaptation of her book counterpart.
The only explanations I can think of for her not telling Jon about the Vale Knights are:
1) For some unexplained reason she just didn't think they'd come
2) She specifically wanted Jon to engage Ramsay's forces while outnumbered and weaker so she could have them swoop in to mop up afterwards
