Like there's a lot of "dark" television these days, but at least in shows like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones, you can get really drawn into the world and you can really enjoy the arcs of the characters even as they're doing horrible things or experiencing horrible things.

Remember when the priest won the money, then had to beat the shit out of the guy who tried to rob him, then got hit in the head by a rock and missed his chance to save his church. And then the cult (who he took pity on) had taken over his church? holy shit.
