Is this any good /tv/?
La Dolce Vita was popular with so many people not because of its moral insights but its peeks into the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Its social and moral concerns notwithstanding, we like it because it has people like big titted Anita, handsome Marcello, lovely Aimee, and the rest. If that movie had been about a fat ugly slobs of Rome, it woulda had far less appeal

Better than 8 1/2. Probably Fellini's best work.

yes
It's a masterpiece. One of the best films ever made.
yes, it's a pretty-near masterpiece and an important film historically

i've always kind of agreed with this, though. for all it's supposed cynicism or criticism you can't help feeling like people like it mostly for living the 'the good life' vicariously through its characters
though i'm not sure that's an issue, that tension certainly brings out the seductive nature of the upperclass party society

It's either good or overrated as fuck.
I much prefer 8 1/2 myself but it's pretty darn good. Took me a while to get into Fellini, I especially didn't care for La Dolce Vita the first time around but with time it's really grown on me.
This is probably the epitome of 'Felliniesque'

But isn't that what neo-realism is all about? A lot of people seem to enjoy those films.
I haven't seen it yet but it is in my list. I'm pretty sure it should be great, it is praised by critics, real critics not some RT or youtubers. It is Sight & Sound tier film, so there is no way it is bad. Gonna save this thread to read it after I see the film.
