If you consider T1 to be a thriller/horror it does a pretty bad job at it, while Alien does an excellent job.
T1 is just average action while T2 is great action.
And no, I don't like Arnie talking, I actually think he sucks and should never act, but T2 is just better. The action is better, characters are more fleshed out, it has more depth, its technical aspects are better.

Predator is my favorite re-imagining of Beowulf and Grendel.
Predator is fucking perfect. It's an action movie, but as an action movie it's like a Mona Lisa, a perfect painting that you can explore and find new meaning in every time you watch it. I'm not memeing you, Predator is fucking perfect.
Predator 2 is actually pretty fun despite the hate it gets and has some cool shit that happens in it. It's impossible to top the first one, and moving the location to a city was an interesting choice. Some of the themes get lost and it isn't a deconstruction piece like the first but as a movie about an invisible alien hunting people in a huge city it's the best.
Predators is also fucking cool as hell. It returns to the jungle concept and introduces some more lore for the aliens, which is really the only new direction they could go in. The cinematography in Predators is some of the most beautiful I've ever seen in a film, still not memeing. I wish we could have gotten to see what happens to the characters when they left the planet.
Super excited for the new Predator and I'm pretty sure the writer lurks this board and is skimming for ideas from the viewers. Dude, just go and do it right, you know how it has to be so just make a badass Predator film and don't worry about what bitchy /tv/ says. Keep it to one Pred and don't sequel bait. Keep it a standalone badass epic.
Franchises either die or get reborn on the fourth flick (the AVP ones don't really count, you'll agree) so I'm hoping the new movie is just a solid piece that doesn't rely on the other movies or try to set up future movies. Obviously that's what the studio is going to want but if the reception to things like Force Awakens and Prometheus has shown anything it's that it's better to just focus on making a good movie. Creators who try to carry the story forward will make their own choices anyway.
