In the UK version there's a really cozy episode - season 5, episode 2 "Piccolo Teatro"
Tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Paris. Owner and 2 employees (1 chef, 1 waitress). Gordon runs off both employees and runs the restaurant solo proving that anyone who isn't a complete shit can make mad money in Paris with good food.

Pretty shit really. In Kitchen Nightmares at least he's coming into the kitchen and fixing things up mainly from there and then branching out into the family drama and installing the Cutting Edge Point Of Sale System. In Hotel Hell he basically rocks up, identifies all the things that are shit, and then there's a commercial break during which his team comes in and changes the wallpaper and puts in some new chairs which fixes everything.

My buddy went to the first (chaotic) meal service at Chiarellas. He said, obviously, it's jarring that there's a ton of camera men, cameras on the tables, boom miss everywhere etc. As always the struggling shitty restaurant is absolutely overwhelmed with customers, as they wanna be on tv so the already bad service suffers. Anyway, his sister got a line on camera complaining about a dish, most of their food was sent back, took forever, a disaster. What surprised me is that customers are still expected to pay for this farcical meal. I guess I assumed the production might cover the cost or something, as no one really leaves happy. But I guess that makes it all the more authentic, people are actually really angry.
