Is this movie trash or a masterpiece?

turning the last 20 minutes into oddly filtered pornography was a highly questionable decision

Dragged out for way too long.
It's very divisive, people either love it or think it's masturbatory. I think it comes down to whether you watch films for atmosphere or writing. There's not much of a plot or even aim to it but it still succeeds in creating that disturbing, psychedelic atmosphere. I love it, the visuals and shooting style are really cool. Only complaints are some bad acting from the girl, and I think the childhood scenes could have been done better (felt very cliched). Still, minor problems. I'd say it's one of my favorite movies and it allowed me to "get" Irreversible, which I now recognize as another masterpiece with similar ideas and aims behind it.
Mp. Only plebs cant into gasper noe

I actually liked it and thought it was meaningful, Oscar choosing to watch what's his namefuck Lindathrough his point of view felt like the culmination of the incestuous overtones. When it shows a young girl and blurry shot of the skyline then zooms back down to them fucking is a beautiful shot, I read it as part of Oscar reaching ultimate fulfillment of his relationship with Linda, since hegets reborn immediately afterwards
First 25~ minutes were good. The rest was just fucking awful.
Longer than was needed. Visual masterpiece, interesting plot structure
masterpiece

What's the name of the song that was playing in the club scene? I checked out the ones listed in the credits but couldn't find it

Not that guy but I feel the same way. Noé gets a reputation as an edgemaster but I think his use of sex is great. Like in Irreversible it was used to show extreme brutality and love, and in ETV, pretty much what you said.
I did think the montage before Alex and Linda was unnecessary though. Made it feel cheap and less meaningful, about just the sex instead of the stuff you said.

The first chunk is just setup for the important part of the film, you have it backwards

too much floating spinning camera and trip visuals detracted from the story. It's good but not a masterpiece
It's nearly an hour too long. I wanted to puke at the endless shots flying over the city.
