The only reason that map looks unbelievable it's because the show has no idea how to paste movement of characters through it. If there was some kind of forethought put into the passing of the characters and their progression through the storyline and through the map you'd actually get a sense of how just how big this continent is supposed to be

In the books- The crowned prince of Dorne is secretly backing Aegon. Dorne backing the new young dragon gives some weight to his invasion of Westeros.

It's right between river city and and Holly wood.
There is no master plan. Rather, none that will work. The point of A Feast for Crows is to show two major new players, Dorne and the Iron Islands, entering in the power vacuum left after the War of the Five Kings, but their attempt to bring a new paradigm is crippled by the same obsessions that caused the war in the first place: for Dorne, desire for vengeance; for the Iron Islands, desire for power. Both causes are doomed: Doran's plan will fail and, at the very least, cost him a great deal of his army as well as three nieces and possibly his daughter; and Euron's plot will have no end result but to make it easier for the Others to take over.
In short, there is no master plan, and the wish for it is the failure to see the point of the series: playing the game is bullshit, and the truly impressive and necessary cause is the moral one.

But literally speaking, Doran's plan is this:
1) Collect collateral and trust (eg Myrcella and her marriage pact with Trystane, his second son) while he prepares
2) Send his first son Quentyn to Daenerys and offer the army of Dorne for her hand, help her take the throne with Quentyn as her king
3) Send the Sand Snakes to assassinate Tommen, ingratiate Dorne with the High Septon/Faith Militant, and ready the army for war
[Quentyn doesn't send word back (he's dead) and Aegon Targaryen shows up]
4) Send Arianne to Aegon to confirm his identity and offer marriage and Dorne's army, help him take the throne with Arianne as queen
5) Have the High Septon anoint Aegon, turning the Faith against Tommen's crown
He literally does the same plan three times (originally, he promised Arianne to Viserys, before he died and Aegon reappeared). So no, not a master planner.
But none of them are. Tywin crushes his enemy for a day, but doesn't realize that'll earn him an eternity of righteous rebellion - same thinking that gets him killed by his own son. Varys sows countless seeds and kills hundreds for his ultimate goal of crowning one person, but doesn't get that that person can be wiped out in a second, unlike a solid political and social foundation worked on for decades. Littlefinger moves entire kingdoms around himself and indebts people to him on the scale of a king's vassalry, but he doesn't get that he's destroying those kingdoms in the process to the point that he could literally end up king with no one around to see it. No master plans.

That was the Queenmaker plot. In Dorne, older sisters inherit before younger brothers, but Arianne (older) suspects Quentyn (younger) plans to steal her inheritance by force. So she plans to crown Myrcella, making her queen over her little brother Tommen, according to Dornish law. This to start a war so Arianne can claim her inheritance by leading her people in battle, securing their loyalty to her before her brother.
