I endorse this list, apart from LotR which I tried to watch quite recently and haven't seen all the way through.

I think the reason these kinds of movies make me (and possibly you) happy is nostalgia. I enjoyed them during a good time in my life and so it reminds me of happiness during a carefree childhood. They're also good "feel good" movies. Others:
