what's the best example of a comedian doing a serious role? besides obviously pic related and Mike Meyers' Hitler
don't they all have like abused and neglected childhoods and thath's why the ended up doing comedy? I bet they have real darkness when they do deep roles.

Observe and Report is so underrated. I think it's just too cruel for most people but it made me laugh harder than any other film in years.
