>destroying the bridge that he was enslaved to build is a bad thing
stupid cuck
>Where is the dentist? I need a new bridge.
>Over the River Kwai.
Literally smashed my Criterion Collection
Why were the americans in the movie?
Their whole plot could have been cut saving about an hour of filler
>>70804891
not what happened
>>70804997
enlighten me
>>70804992
There's just one American.
>>70805031
"What have I done" was spoken in reference to the fact that he had built a bridge for the enemy that was now carrying a train of their injured to an enemy jail. He destroyed the bridge on purpose.
thats not a bridge thats a space station
>>70805031
Not that guy but during the shootout, he realized what he had done due to Stockholme syndrome or misguided gentlemanliness. After getting shot, knowing he was going to die from the wound, he let himself fall on the detonator on purpose to destroy the bridge.
At least that's how I remember it, I last saw it years ago. Good movie.
>>70804753
she was a good bridge
>>70804753
>Bridge on the River Kwai
>keels over and destroys bridge
>Star Wars ANH
>keels over and blows up Death Star
It's like poetry
>>70805135
That's how I interpret it.
>"..."
What did it mean by this?
>>70804992
...The one American GI?
>>70804753
>Written by the same guy who wrote Planet of the Apes.
If you look carefully it's actually a prequel.
>>70804753
This movie should be called
Bridge over the river comfy
>>70804869
I always assumed that.
>>70804891
I don't think you appreciate the significance of the bridge and the emotional investment into it. Building the bridge gave him and his men something to focus their energy on through their ordeal and kept them organized and together (for the most part). But in the end her realized that it had to be destroyed, and he did it in his last moments.
>>70806251
*he realized
>>70804900
>>70804753
He dun goofed!
>>70804992
It's been pretty well acknowledged since the original release that the William Holden plot is the weak point. Just a case of David Lean trying to pander to Americans.
He wisely cut all that kind of shit out with Lawrence of Arabia.
>>70804753
MADNESSbecause he used the force.
Saito was such a ROBOT
>>70804753
I hated that guy SO MUCH by the end of the movie. I even hated that hegot off with a heroic death.
That whistling is stuck in my head now, too.
Great movie.
>>70805523
YOU MANIACS!
>WHAT HAVE I DONE
>>70805135
He helped kill a British commando before he finally realized what he did.
Be happy in your work
>"My God, after all these years imprisoned I have become the Bridge on the River Kwai."
I love David Lean but this line was hackneyed as fuck.
>>70804753
Such a great film. I wish more people would see it.
>>70804753
what the fuck was this guy's deal? I watched this again a few days ago and it triggered the fuck out of me
>inb4 he went crazy
he was being fucking absurd even before he went in the oven
>my enlisted men can be slave laborers but not muh officers
>no escaping, dying in the camp is surely better
>>70805192
you're bridge a shit
>>70811319
Are you a woman? Just curious.:^)
>>70809752
god dammit dude that picture brought back some memories
>>70804753
top shelf post
you got it
watch for it in your life experiences..from your bosses especially
>>70804891
You didn't get it, maybe because you are a woman Remeber those thread about movies women will never understand? This is one of those.
Anyone here ever read the book this is based on?
It seems like there a few small character motivations that are missing. Also, trying to figure out what the Allied Forces higher ups were actually planning with getting Obi-Wans troups intentionally captured was about is kinda hard to figure out.
This movie was hot garbage.
Real P.O.W.'s would take pride in not building a bridge worthy of foot traffic, let alone a fucking train. They would take pride in the fact that they wasted enemy time, resources, and got their camp commander fired, if not executed.
The best part of this flick was when the American tried to get the Canuckfag to kill the Britfag Colonel for being the Nip cuck that he was...
>>70809752
fabs?
My dad punished me for some reason one day; I had to vacuum the basement staircase. I did a thorough job, and he thanked me for doing so even though I was cleaning as punishment. I told him I thought of the bridge over the river kwai.
>>70804753
KILLED THEM ALL, OF COURSE
>>70817677
What type of pathetic fuck are you? Accepting punishment when you don't even know what you did.
LETTING THE DAYS GO BY
The bridge is The High Ground™.
>>70806414
What was weak about it?
>>70811319
He's a quintessentially British military officer.
>>70821413
I didn't like him very much either. He was a real gary stu.
>>70816201
t. Jew
>>70804992
How else are they gonna find out that a bridge has been built on the river Kwai?
>>70804753
>this made today
>token black character for some reason
>tough talking female soldier takes on 9 Japanese soldiers armed with rifles
>>70811319
It's a fundamentally anti-British movie, that's what's going on.
The real guy was literally the exact opposite of the movie character.
>>70815827
>Also, trying to figure out what the Allied Forces higher ups were actually planning with getting Obi-Wans troups intentionally captured was about is kinda hard to figure out.
No it isn't. The nips overran a lot of the colonies in asia. The british forces there were in no shape to fight back, so instead of appalling casualties they were ordered to surrender. It was assumed they would be treated well per the geneva convention. The nip treatment of pows wasnt common knowledge at that point in the war
>>70824378
Worst part is I can see this happening. This is why we can't have nice things.
>>70821778
This
Remember they surrendered in Singapore to a force far smaller than theirs, it was the greatest British military embarrassment of all time
>>70808830
