Some good examples of a strong female character done right? Without them becoming all Mary Sue and pandering to American college feminists.

Pic obviously not related

Olenna Tyrell. Smart, scheming, the de facto head of a great and wealthy house. Is respected by great men in power, and a major political player in a world where few women can be top notch player.

T2 Sarah Conner Obviously... God i miss the days when you could have a strong female character in film without the feminists trying to claim her and make her into their new mascot

The only good female character on the entire show.

Brienne was almost good, but she became OP

Sarah Conner, the one female action movie heroine who you really believed was beating the shit out of men twice her weight without CGI.

pic related had a skill set that made sense given her background, but still needed a lot of help from Max and Nux in order to survive

one of the few females in an action film lead role i actually liked

Well, strong doesn't have to mean the character dominates the situation or other characters. They can be strong willed and persistent in the face of adversity. People often relate better to down on their luck characters who hang in until the end. Whether they win or lose. But the journey has to be at least somewhat believable. There has to be vulnerabilities. An interesting personality or spark.

Rey is so unbelievably good that the other characters suffer for it. None more than Finn. His incompetence is played for laughs and contrasted with Rey's control over almost any given situation. It doesn't help that Rey is honestly a pretty bland character.

> Ellen Ripley
> Sarah Connor
> Trinity (mainly in Matrix; she's wasted in the sequels)
> Makoto Kusanagi
> Mikasa Ackerman
> Scarlet Witch

Great characters have flaws, and it's overcoming those flaws, those weaknesses, that makes them heroic, not being "badass".

When a character is "badass" and perfect and always win or never make mistakes, they are not heroic.

Heroism is all about struggle and overcoming mistakes and failures, not coasting to victory.

Rey should have been allowed to be more human, and make errors and have to learn from them. Hopefully Rian Johnson lets the character breathe and be human in Episode VIII.

oh for fuck's sake, it is just your masculine perception. Women are women and should not do stuff like stereotypical men. It is not the definition of "strong".

Pic rel is cool, introducing Miss Daisy

Even if she didn't make errors she's too overpowered in the first movie. The next movie she'll be cracking planets in half with the force, in the third movie she'll manifest black holes and collapse entire star systems. She'll probably dilate time and shoot Greedo before Han enters the cantina.

This. I still have some faith for her character.
