Maybe they're doing the storyline where Batman dies and Gordon takes his place. I shit you not. This happened recently.
Hope they're going for a Year One kind of Gordon who punches baddies and doesn't afraid of anything, instead of Gary Oldman's brittle and wise Gordon. It essentially worked out as having two Alfreds, both giving vague warnings with strange speech patterns and awkwardly getting involved in the action a couple of times.
