Let's say he's got 500 men of his 1500 still from Dragonstone. That means he has 6000 men altogether as everyone else would be southroners and that force was defeated by 20 good men.

Because he knew Ramsay wouldn't kill her, he was willing to let her get beat up a bit but Ramsay doesn't usually kill his favorite play things. He cares about Sansa but he also needs her name to take over the north (which he is very close to doing).
None of this shit happens in the books though so it might have muddied CIA's character a bit, he still has her in the vale in GRRM's version. If that does decrease your opinion of CIA its D&D's fault 100%, they made all this shit up.
