I've just watched 'North by Northwest' for the first time.
A bit overrated don't you think?
A lot of people seem to agree with you on this. At least in my experience. But I really love it and would place it in my top 3 Hitchcock with Rear Window and Strangers on a Train. Just the whole idea of mistaken identities and conspiracy plots and syndicate organizations etc. really entertain me.
I prefer Rear Window, Rope and Dial M for Murder

Yeah. Saying Vertigo is overrated works a lot better. North By Northwest is pretty much perfectly rated because people only ever talk about the scene where the plane chases him.
