its good
>>
>>70479136
Shit for bro-tier retards and closet homosexuals that liked 300.
>>
One of the worst capeshit films. Which is saying a lot.
>>
>>70479136
Better than all the recent cape shit garbage from marvel and DC.
>>
>>70479136
great film
squids won't understand
>>
>>70479136
take out the sex scene and recast ozzy it would be a near perfect movie
>>
It's okay in a stylistic sense but thematically it misses the point, badly
It gets better the less you like Watchmen and the more you turn off your brain while watching it.
Great drinking choice because of that.
>>
>>70479136
is ART
>>
>>70479136

It's pretty bad, but it's the best one from DC so far. Certainly better than BvS.

I really like the graphic novel it's based on, but Snyder misunderstood the source material (big surprise). It was meant as a deconstruction of superheroes, all he made was a mediocre superhero movie. Casting was great, I'll say that. Intro was great. Wardrobe was great. Effects were great. It just had no heart because he didn't understand what it was about.
>>
A whirlwind of bad decisions. A shallow and empty conceit at the very best. Captures 0% of the book's wit and nuance.
>>
>>70479136
Another abortion of perfectly good source material. Imagine how it would have went had they made this in the 80's with Robin Williams as Rorschach
>>
It's quite impressive how poor placed the music is in this film. How can you screw up Sound of Silence so badly?
>>

>>
The Dr Manhattan explosion thing made so much more sense then the stupid alien invasion nonsense from the comic
>>
>>70479136
It was okay, but really shit compared to the comic.

Some pretty questionable casting choices and costume design.
>>
>>70479984
>I don't know how deterrent theory, the Cold War, the URSS and the US work: the post: the human being
>>
It looks good but Synder totally missed the point.
Why are the regular humans able to punch through walls and break bones with their bare hands?
The whole point was that the world was a normal one until Dr. Manhattan showed up.

Secondly, why is Ozymandias a scrawny faggot? He was supposed to be the Ubermensh. Perfect in all ways. But an ant next to the real Superman.

Perfect casting for Rorschach and Manhattan though.
>>
>>70479984
Making a global enemy of Dr. Manhattan doesn't work as well as lol aliums because of Manhattan's prior allegiance to the U.S. It would still give enemies of the nation an excuse to finger point rather than unite.

Was Ozymandias cold war Batman?
>>
>>70480466
No, for some reason Snyder wanted him to be an unlikable asshole, when in contrast to the source material he was pretty much the more sane and likeable character, the plot twist of him elaborating a plan that would kill millions to save billions is shocking, because you see the Black Freighter story running in parallel to the watchmen story, in which is revealed that in the en he did feel bad about his actions, but it was for a greater good, he even shed tear for those who died and even seeks approval of his actions questioning himself if what he did was right, unlike the movie where he looks cold and doesn't really gave a shit about killing millions, he was just a straight up comic book villain stereotype the very thing he was not supposed to be.
Also, have you guys hear? Watchmen is now part of the DC universe, Dr. Manhathan is now THE CREATOR of the DC new 52 universe and possibly every single super hero in DC, this is now told that after the events of Watchmen, he went on with his life on Mars to create universes
>>
>>70479136

You can tell the director is autistic but it's an enjoyable movie after all
>>
>>70481188

Wtf when/where was this established?

Do you think it was in Syder's DCCU contract? lmfao
>>
>>70481324
>Wtf when/where was this established?
last week, it was a sad day in comic book history
Do you think it was in Syder's DCCU contract?
It might be, I don't see any other reason for DC using their Watchmen characters out of that stand alone novel to get involved in the DC super hero universe, to me it seems like they are planing some sort of crossover with Snyder's Watchmen movie of the sort, maybe Dr. Manhattan will be the endgame for that universe or some bullshit like that
>>
>>70480304
Except he attacked the U.S too.

Comic is excellent.

>>
>>70479136

A surface level interpretation of the one good capecomic ever made, only impressive to people who haven't read the source material and like the most basic ideas Zack the Hack manages to get across. Nice visuals though.
>>
Standalone it was an interesting alternate history film that juxtaposed high(ish) concept sci fi with the reality of potential war during the cold war. It was also super stylish.

With the comic in mind, it messed up the deconstruction of the super hero genre, but was otherwise OK.

It was shit

I fucking knew that you couldn't
Everything snyder says about watchmen begins and ends with "uhhh we shot it like this because uhhhhhhh it like looked pretty cool, yeah", watch the movie with commentary if you don't believe me.
>>
>>70479386
I just love how /tv/ keeps spouting the deconstruction thing like it's some hidden truth. It's litterally the point of the graphic novel. Everyone got it the first time they read it. Thus, it's safe to assume a whole fucking team of people whose business is knowing and telling stories understood it too, which is why they translated it into the film, which by the way, they did in such an obvious manner that I'm gonna assume you didn't read the source material and are just repeating what you saw on reddit about the film being so different from the book, which it's not (give or take a psychic squidmonster).
>>
>>70484186
didn't you watch BvS? snyder has like 3 neurones only take it easy on him
>>
>>70479136

Akerman sucked
Goode sucked
sex scene sucked

everything else was pretty damn good
>>
>>70481324

It was leaked last week, it's being retconned into the new crisis-style reboot of continuity.

At the end of watchmen when Dr Manhattan says he's going off to create life he goes and creates the DC universe. That's why you see that big blue hand at the start of creation in DC time travel stuff.

This is not a joke or a troll it's what they are really doing.
>>
>>70479136
It's fucking great. But /tv/ likes shit like Fargo.

Look at this fucking faggot for example: >>70479198

This place stinks to arsehole.
>>
>>70484186
Would you ask Will Hunting to explain to you how he proved that formula? Snyder doesn't try to explain his craft to plebs because he knows it's beyond them.
>>
>>70484436

With the overstylized, fancy fight choreography, Zack Synder showed that he completely missed the point of Watchmen

They handled Rorschach well though

That's true

It feels like Synder skimmed through the comic, liked how it looked, and then put no thought in beyond that
>>
>>70484689

yup

i think it's pretty cool
>>
>>70480217

When I read the comic I always imagined rorschach having more of a high pitch happy like voice and sounding more like a cartoon character.

I read the comic first but I can dig the voice he had in the movie.
>>
>>70479136
it was very good
>>
>>70484628
the comic pretends to transgress the comic super hero mythos, using the comic format
movie transgredes the capeshit metagenere, using the very same actioner formula, commonplaces at all

fight coreography et al. were just appropriate. it seems like (You) missed the whole point of both the mediocre comic book and the so-so movie.
>>
@70485120
>fishing for (you)s this poorly
>>
>>70484742
To add to this. mostly crappy changes that he did make. Everything from their suit designs to the out of place gore/violence/sex to the different ending.

There were some good parts to it. I thought dr manhattan looked great and was very well acted. Some scenes were well done. And though a lot of people talk about its faithful adherence to the books particular style as a negative, it does objectively look really good.
>>
>>70479136

it sort of relevant since hollywood's infatuation with cape movies is not over yet. it made a kind of criticism of superhero fiction so that's neat... but the thing that is sort of unfortunate is that superhero fiction have sort of incorporate it within itself since the time it was made in the 80s... most super hero movies who show some element of contrast made of deadpan realism meet superpower are in debt to that comic and it sort of takes away the punching power of that watchmen movie. its less shocking, that thought experiment is out there and been chewed and regurgitated by a lot of creatives.
>>
they changed the ending because they thought people were too stupid for the squid

instead they made the ending about everyone cowering in fear of dr. manhattan when one of the core themes of the comic is people getting over their fears of nuclear apocalypse, which dr. manhattan explicitly represents

snyder didn't understand watchmen at all and turned it into a whimsical farce where rorschach is a badass antihero like wolverine and oxymandias is an effete eurotrash pedophile supervillain
>>
>>70485120
Nice try, nu-male
>>
>>70479386
Everyone except Rorschach was a huge asshole in this movie, what was more "deconstructing" in the graphic novel?
>>
>>70486802
That's literally the whole point you literal fucking autist. The point is that if real superheroes existed they would be fundamentally fucked up people. Batman (either Rorschach or the comedian) would be a sadist and would not give even the slightest fuck about killing a bad guy. Wonder Woman (silk i and ii) would be vulnerable and she most likely would have been raped or at least almost raped. Superman (Doctor Manhattan) simply wouldn't give a fuck about humanity, he would see through their bullshit and not care about it. Hack Snyder missed the point and glorified all the violence because "I thought it looked cool"
>>
>>70486982
So it's literally the same apart from "the action wasn't supposed to look cool because we were suppose to despise them even more". I get it.

>>
>>70487128
No it's not. The themes were completely different, the "villain" was completely changed to be a sociopath and not care about the people that he killed even though he was the only person in the book that isn't despicable, ss ii was way too OP just for the sake of her being a stronk indepyndint wymyn, Doctor Manhattan, even though he ended up not caring, gave way too much of a fuck throughout it, the sex scene was forced and hallelujah was a terrible song for it, I laugh at that shit for a couple minutes every time I see it. I still can't believe that Hack made an almost 1:1 adaptation of watchmen and still managed to fuck it up completely.
