Cast the upcoming Witcher movie
>>70469631
Mads Mikkelsen as Eskel.
The aunt from Jurassic world as Triss.
She might not be as pretty as Yennefer should be but acting is more important and she could nail that role.
>>70469631
obviously idris elba as geralt
triss merigold
ciri
>>70470027
No. Triss is supposed to be very young.
>>70469631
>>70469868
too old both of them
Geralt is over 100 years old, and his hear is grey (because of the mutations taking hold more strongly than in other witchers), but he moves and looks like a guy in his 30's
all the sorceresses look like women (not girls) and should probably be in their late 20's or early 30's depending on how well they've aged
i'd prefer reasonably unknown actors though, so that they can spend the budget on sets and CGI and all that crap that makes stuff look good
i wouldn't mind seeing Anson Mount (from Hell on Wheels) as Geralt, he's a bit old too though at 43
uma
I hope they cast an asian for Triss or Yennifer just to trigger /t/v/

Yen and Triss, Ciri are most uninteresting part of the witcher if I were the director of witcher film I would exclude them completly and focus on Geralt and his folks
>>70470222
>SNL korea
wat
>>70470151
Nah, 40 would be perfect for geralt. His mutations slow aging, they don't remove it.
>>70470166
Uma wouldn't be in the movie. It will be based on the books.
>>70470256
What are you on about?
>>70470296
yeah i'm just thinking of the physical exertion required of the actor, i'd prefer it if whoever plays Geralt can perform a lot of his own stunts and combat shit so we don't get a bunch of shaky cam and stuntmen, 40-ish should be fine though
>>70470256
The first one can be the plebby wild hunt movie with ciri-sue to rope in the normies and the next movie they'll do a prequel about foltest and roche and djiekstra and all the actually interesting characters and how geralt meets them.
Obviously Brendan Gleeson for the baron
Leave my vidya untouched you mongols.
>>70469631
Yen
>>70470383
What are you faggots talking about? The books are about Geralt and Ciri.
Radovid
>>70470383
first movie should establish the main character and the universe, i'd rather they leave the wild hunt, ciri, yen and triss out of it for now
actually what i really want is a long running series, either on HBO, Netflix or Amazon (to avoid censorship), but then you really have to take actors age into account
>>70470476
>leave my books untouched
doesn't work like that.

If this actually goes ahead, you know Wild Hunt will be the "big bad" of the trilogy, and slowly built up through small lines and teases here and there.
I think generally, 3 two hour movies could do pretty well to build the core stories of each game but I agree id rather see an HBO or Amazon series.
>>70470068

>>70470504
But Yennefer is in the first book and is a pretty big part of the short stories and their relationship makes Geralt more human and relatable. I do however agree that they should wait with introducing Triss and Ciri.
Gaunter O'Dimm
>>70470516

Why does /v/ make this thread every fucking day?
>>70470568
yeah, if they get a series going we could have monster of the week stuff and fantastic adventures, that stuff is way more interesting to me than the wild hunt and the family drama
to me the witcher universe is better and more promising than its characters, we've already experienced Geralt's story
Young Geralt could be cool, a long running show that leads up to the books and how he gained fame and renown

It really isn't. The novels are all mediocre. You must be a terrible pleb if you value 'muh characters' and 'plot' that much over the quality of prose.
Tolkien is one that hits both notes.

>>70471105

wtf, i've been saying the exact opposite, that the characters and plot aren't that interesting, but the world has amazing potential for original stories
>>70471105
>>70470987
a lot of the "monsters" are pretty original though, atleast to the most of us, there's no "Orcs", or a common enemy or a "big bad", doesn't feel like a Tolkien world at all tbqh

>>70471134
Would obviously be played by Charles Dance.
I would agree with casting the God Emperor but he really sucks at acting.
>>70471200
>but the world has amazing potential for original stories
No that's the pleb argument about 'muh worldbuilding', goes in the same trash bin with 'muh character moments, muh plot' it's like plebs think TV series is good 'because character moments' or Avengers capeshit when they have absolutely shit directing, cinematography (in novels, prose)
>>70471105

>>70471162
>implying that a lot doesn't get lost in translation no matter how good the translator is
>>70471305
The first translation already happens when the writer writes it on the paper since language and brains are limited in what they can express and do.
So unless the translator did a hackjob, you can judge it.
>>70471251
oh, you're retarded, why didn't you just say so
jesus fucking christ.
The movie will be an adaptation based off the short stories in The Last Wish book, it has nothing to do with the games.
So basically, cast characters only seen in that book.
>>70471386
what was his goddamn problem? and who was he? litreal devil?
>>70471342
so, basically your argument is that it's already been translated and a lot already got lost so it doesn't matter if you translate it again.
Cast him.
>>70471386
this.
>>70471494
Unless the translator did a hackjob.
Of course this sort of retarded argument (meaning yours, since your reading comprehension seems to be lacking) comes only from those people that generally don't read novels except the 1-2 pleb things they read (like their fantasy novels)
>>70469631
didnt they already fuck up any chances of a movie ever happening with the tv series?
>>70471439
Gaunter O'Dimm aka GOD.

who will be Roach?
>>70471726
>it's obvious that somethings can't be replicated in other languages
I'm extremely positive that Polish language follows the same traditions as "European thinking" in general ie. they don't have such weird occurances where 'FUTURE' is 'BEHIND' them because 'THEY HAVE YET TO SEE IT' (some tribals speak and write about time and future, about their lives in this manner) and HISTORY is in front of them as they've seen.
Now, that can be translated too, as I have learned it through translations as you can see.

>>70471386

>>70471824
Jokes are a good example of things often can't be properly translated. It might be because of cultural differences or because of a pun that doesn't work in other languages.
You can't expect the quality to stay the same if it's translated to another language.

Letho
>>70470383

>>70473119
It's going to based of the books. Letho only appears in the games.

she's way to old to play Ciri. Ciri should be around 8-16 years old.

>>70473053
You must be retarded not to cast Daniel Craig as Iorveth. I'm confident CD projeckt actually used him for the model. Roche of course would be played by Mark Strong.

Yvonne Strahovski as Yennefer?
>>70475640
She doesn't, though.
>>70475753
>Yvonne Strahovski as Yennefer
absolutely fucking disgusting. Yennefer is supposed to be a small and shapely woman with a triangular head
>>70469631
Cast him

geralt is supposed to look weird and exotic.
>>70475938
not in the books. Into the trash it goes.

Geralt's horse.
Charles Dance for Emhyr? He doesn't look like him, but he has the whole demeanor and attitude to a notch.

>>70475938
Geralt's horse.
>>70475199

Dandelion is hard to cast. It would probably end up being Simon Pegg, as much as I'm sick of him.
>>70475199
Dandelion is definitely the hardest one. Perhaps Jared Leto or Paul Rudd?
>>70476166
Zach McGowan? I don't know what happened there.
Rebecca Hall as Yen

>>70476166
>>70476167
Jared Leto could be good. Simon Pegg not much as Dandelion needs to be handsome.
Karl Urban, maybe?

pretty good, but I prefer Eva Green
>>70475938
>>70469631
>implying the cast won't be polish
>>70469868
In the books Yennefer wasn't of impeccable beauty. Witches in general were described as 'straighten-up pseudo-beauties'.
So Eva is a perfect choice for me
>>70471527
John Cleese being serious
>>70476415
Yeah, Simon is the studio choice, just like for Scotty in the new Star Treks. Not a fan of casting him.
Dandelion also needs to be funny, in addition to handsome, since he's comic relief (at least in the games, haven't read the books). I love Karl Urban in Dredd, but is he funny? Same with Jared Leto.
>>70476575
>video game adaptation
It will be based on the books.
>>70476575
>caring what Pleb Tomatoes has to say

Of course gameshitters are plebs who care about rotten tomatoes, financial bombing etc.
>>70469631
Sylwester Maciejewski as Leo Bonhart
>>70476687
Both Karl Urban and Jared leto could look like him, have the acting chops and will be able to pull off the dramatic scenes as well as the funny.
Dandelion is a funny character because of his personality and actions, something that would be very hard with a comedian.
>>70476076
It'd be the same fucking character as bloody tywin
>>70476076
think he has the voice too but not sure
>>70476401

>Karl-fucking-Urban
>'acting chops'
lol
>>70469631
Tomasz Karolak is already confirmed as Dandelion
>>70476652
>straighten-up pseudo-beauties
No, they're not. Geralt only noticed small imperfections because of his heightened perception and his obsession with her. The most beautiful woman in the world is a sorceress and they are all described as extremely beautiful in their own way.
>>70475952
Only hair.
I found the perfect Triss casting.
>>70477041
Get the fuck out
>itt people casing the vidya when the movie is confirmed to be based on books
they also have a shitty 30 mil budget and don't even have the rights to use "Witcher" trademark so it's bound to bomb
Is this going to be a hollywood production? I feel like the movie would get better critical reception if it was in Polish with subtitles.
Might be cringeworthy with Ameriturd actors
>>70476575
SEAGAL FOR GERALT
>>70476982
But this is literally what said in 'The Last Wish'. That many sorceresses are next-door village girls, or, as Yennefer's example shown, girls with deformities, and they are 'beautified' because of the prestige of their position, effecting in 'pseudo-pretty women'. This is how I remember it.
And the most beautiful woman in Witcher world is said to be Francesca Findabair, which coincidentally was an elf
>>70476814
he doesn't look mean or imposing.
>>70470671
Michael Shannon would be a better pick especially if the rest of the cast is english.
>>70477041
They would do it. They would try to aim for the "Geek crowd XDD" and put her. And change her entire personality.
>>70476837
Eh, I'm skeptical. They could definitely do the drama bits, but I just don't know if they have the comedic timing for Dandelion.
>>70477125
>they also have a shitty 30 mil budget and don't even have the rights to use "Witcher" trademark so it's bound to bomb

No, actually he was said to be more pale than normal people
>>70477258

>>70477181
I interpreted it as small traces left by magic that normal people wouldn't pick up on. The amount of people wanting to sleep with Yennefer wouldn't be as high if she wasn't very beautiful but I agree that Eva Green is a great choice for Yennefer.
>>70477188
>he doesn't look mean or imposing.
ThatÄ…s just becasue of this role. I couldnÄ…t find any good picture, but he really can perform a killer stare.
>>70476982
Oh, and Yennefer in particular, I will try to translate is as best as I could, was described by Geralt as 'thought attractive in her own way, she couldn't be considered a beauty'

>>70477419
That is a fucking accurate reference.

>>70477459
Majority of the movie will be based on the 'Lesser Evil'. Not even a single politician ranked higher than mayor was there.

>all these retards casting characters who don't appear in the books which is what the film is being based off of
Fuck off video fame fags. Anyways since the film will be based on the themes of "the witcher" and "the lesser evil" I don't know who will appear. It doesn't seem like a direct adaptation of the stories so I can see Dandelion and Yen making appearances even thought they didn't appear in those two stories but consdering how important Geralt's realtionship with Yen is I would imagine they would tey to establish it. What do you guys think about Sarah Green? Could she be Yen?

Ciri will be like 10-16 and she won't even appear in the first film.

>reading shitty trash fantasy
Goodbye.
>>70479456
It's for real and it's being based off of the books. The director has said that hopefully after the first film they can get a TV series that can adapt the rest of the books. It's coming out in 2016.
>muh books
Look, all anyone gives a shit about is TW3, and that's what they will cater to.

Opps meant 2017.

Writing in TW3 was pretty shit if you think of the 'bigger picture' political things and Ciri was a fucking Mary-Sue.
I only liked the Baron, Geralt/Yen, Dandelion bits.

>implying the games don't just use dumb down characters and make a even more cliche plot
>implying the games don't quite literally reuse the plot points from the saga but put a slightly different coat of paint on it
>>70479670
Except they have already said it is not being based on the games and has nothing to do with them. It's being based off of the books not the fan fiction.
Which one will Geralt pick?
A little reminder y'all faggots:
Ciri may look no older than 10-12 for her bonding with geralt to make any sense. She has to age a few years at least then for her character growth and action girling to be believable (though they may tone that part down, it was rather shit in the books anyway) but it must stay the same actress no doubt.
Emhyr ages at least 15 years between ciris conception and their final confrontation. He must be a believable husband for pavetta at first. (They may play down the part with him saving her father before HER conception, because that makes the age difference really creepy.)
The Sorceresses should not physically age at all while shooting.

At least the characters themselves were good for the most part. But yes, the overall story was extremely meh. The franchise has always been better when focusing on the shorter, more contained stories.

>At least the characters themselves were good for the most part
Zoltan begs to differ, he was extremely rushed? Or 'removed' IMHO, there wasn't much to him in TW3.
but main cast as characters (excluding Radovid, Emyr, Triss Merigold, I'm probs forgetting someone) was good, yes

They need to cast Yen relatively young but also at an age so her mother/daughter relationship with Ciri doesn't seem weird. Honestly they might just have to go for an actress in her early 30s.
>>70480008
He wasn't rushed, he just wasn't in it enough.
>>70480056
Depends on how they'll try and have her look. Displaying a bit more "artificial beauty" by making her look younger through make-up etc. could work very well, but it's no strictly what the author intended. (Besides, the older the actress the better she could convey the literal hundred years the character is supposed to be)
