Am I autistic for actually thinking the Purge movie series is legitimately something to be afraid of? They are coming out with a new one on July 6th two days after Independence Day, I actually think these movies are sending the wrong message and idea to people. There have actually been documented cases of criminals saying they were imitating "The Purge". One man shot like 4 random people and cited "The Purge" movie as his inspiration, I know it's a popular horror series but it just terrifies me that people are taking it seriously. They honestly believe we should have a real life purge every year, I know it's my autism I guess or some shit acting up but damn these movies scare me.
I was never a horror movie fan anyway, but when people start imitating "The Purge" and citing it as inspiration, well, that just frightens me. What if people go see it and decide "Oh man, we should all just start murdering people we don't like and shit" I wouldn't want to go see that movie during a midnight screening, who knows what kind of nutjobs you'd be in the theater with. Someone would probably bring a gun or some shit and murder everyone in the theater and claim they were "Purging"

In my defense though, unlike other horror movies that are pretty fictitious, this one is somewhat more realistic only in the sense that people are actually mimicking it and it's giving them the wrong messages and ideas. Though maybe the people who are taking this movie too seriously have schizophrenia or some mental disorder that makes them think it should be a real thing, either way I just don't like the premise or concept of the movie and I'm entitled to my opinion so, take it with a grain of salt.

I already said I wasn't a horror fan, just don't have the stomach for it and frankly I don't find the fascination with them. I guess some people like seeing excessive blood, gore, violence and what not for two hours straight. I can't really judge those people, it's no different than people who enjoy other genres of movies that others don't like. But with horror it's usually cut and dry, either you like it or you don't. I just don't like it, of course people will call me a "pussy" but like I said not everyone is into that shit. I'd rather spend two hours watching a comedy, you know? Something that makes me laugh rather then spending two hours watching death, gore, murder and mayhem that is just pure violence and gore.
The horror genre was probably always in the bottom tier for me in terms of movie genres, but once again I can't knock people who like horror, it's obviously a billion dollar genre. I've met people who have seen just about every horror movie ever made, they can't get enough of the stuff.
Home invasion and small time murder is the wrong focus.
I want the movie to focus on the literal wars that would erupt as huge companies fight eachother for "hostile takeovers".
Or, hell, just a successful bank robbery where the robber steals all the money in the bank, including the savings of every customer.
It will be a long hot summer of racial violence and the media won't report on half of it, I'll let you guess which half.

Well I know in the new purge movie coming out in July it focuses on everyone basically trying to kill a female senator who is advocating against doing away with the purge and everyone goes apeshit, and basically her bodyguard has to keep her safe for the next 12 hours. That's the entire plot of the movie, the entire country has been brainwashed into thinking the purge is necessary and nobody wants her to do away with it, I also noticed in the previews that cults seem to form during the purge, like you have different cults represented by different masks and what not.

I will admit that I don't have any friends, I'm basically a shut-in, and extremely lonely. I don't considered myself sheltered however, I keep up with current events, news, politics, etc. I like to keep informed of what is going on in the world, especially big stories and I like to think I'm educated more so than a lot of other people I see in public.
