First off, no and it's very easy to tell which shots are practical effects and which ones aren't because of the insultingly robotic direction of Joe Johnston. The shots where the T. Rex and Spino are grappling with each others neck and generally make fast movements are all CG. It's also good they didn't keep the extended fight scene with the claws because the footage we have of that is literally the worst animatronic use I've ever seen.

Why didn't some of the dinosaurs have feathers? The first movie was very good at depicting what was at the time pretty scientifically accurate dinosaurs. Giving them feathers would give back the sense of discovery and the sense of wonder. Just imagine all the nice color patterns on the feathers. When I watch JW, it doesn't feel authentic and the dinosaurs feel more like fictional creatures than animals that actually existed.
It doesn't even mess with the established universe. They could have said that they switched out the frog DNA with bird DNA because it matched better.
