thing is the cost is about the same. however, it's generally easier to do with CG than it is with real sets for practical reasons (no pun intended). the problem is when you get into shooting troubles on set, reshoots, etc. It'll cost the production more time and money to film actors on a set, for more takes, than to have them do their spiel in front of a green screen and be done with it.
