Post GOAT Twilight Zone episodes. Recently watched this and it's become one of my favorites. Also discussion on The Outer Limits is welcome.

Nick of Time is pretty good.

A Game of Pool is my favorite all time.

When I first saw Drunken Master II, I kinda thought it was a ripoff of Mr. Denton on Doomsday.

Saw DMII before seeing the original, btw, and I prefer it to that. Sorry metronome-fu purists. That's just the way it happened.

A Stop at Willoughby is a good choice. I Shot an Arrow Into the Air and A Nice Place to Visit would be up there too.

YES

Right on, that episode had exceptional dialogue.

It's weird how much more attention the airplane one gets, this one was way better.

Anyway I just watched Quality of Mercy, was good.
>>
I never watched the series but I have heard a few of the radio plays which is better?

>one of the plays had a character voiced by Costanza
>>
That one with the guy on some prison asteroid. He gets a robot wife to live with and when he finally gets to go he has to decide to leave her.

It should be very relevant with modern NEET/weebs
>>
Why haven't they remade this?
>>
>>70334741
Yeah Nightmare at 20,000 Feet is one of my least favorites in the entire series.

the midnight sun
eye of the beholder
its a good life
the boxing one in season 1
the writer one in season 1
i am tjhe night, color me black
one for the meek
the one with the little people who worship stranded astronaut as a god

there are so many war episodes. one that I remember being good is the one where the guy can see the men who will die before they do.
>>
>>70334850
they have. twice. (bad). and a movie (half good, half bad).
and a "spiritual sequel" black mirror (UK), on netflix. good shit.
>>
>>70334980
The movie is only known for the helicopter accident
>>
>>70334850
There was an 80s reboot and a 00s reboot, both of which completely sucked because they just can't capture that essence. The original series managed to be both timeless and very much encapsulated in its time period at once. That's pretty special and can't simply be replicated.

Besides they tried to give the show too much of a horror spin, completely missing the point of the original.

"The masks" for some introspection.

I'm going through the Outer Limits right now, and I really think that The Borderland doesnt get enough recognition. I absolutely love the way the scenes in the power plant are lit.

Nothing in the Dark was always one of my favorites.

Despite the memes, terror at 20000 feet is probably the GOAT. It's hard to judge it fairly because it's so hyped, but seriously, go watch it again.

Great episode, Shatner was excellent in this, just his total look of hopelessness.
>>70334699
A Nice Place to Visit for sure, was excellent, lost my shit when Rocky was calling him Fats.
>>70334617
A Game of Pool, one of my favorite episodes.
>>
>>70336678
nah. shatner's acting is hammy and the costume has not aged well at all, it looks hilarious.
one more pallbearer, its a good life, a game of pool, last night as a jockey, old man in the cave, and many more are all better.
>>
>>70336678
should be replying to >>70334852
>>
>>70335112
I didn't mind either of the reboots that much, but they definitely weren't even close to the quality of the original.

Night Gallery/Original Trek/both outer limits series captures the feel of twilight zone better than the 80's or 00's series did
>>
Can we pretend the outer limits didn't happen? That show could be legitimately terrifying.
>>
>>70333772
There

are

Gremlins

on the plane!
>>
give me a top 5 TZ episodes, I've never watched one and really wanna try it.
>>
>>70336712
Come on, his facial reactions alone, and the creature on the wings, its costume, lost my shit watching it recently. Shatner overacted but in a very good way.

Third From the Sun never gets any love but I think it's great. The way that it's shot is so unnerving.

>>70335990
That episode is terrifying.
>>
>>70336859
is that the one where the three men go to the planet where everyone's frozen? i love that episode.
>>
>>70336892
No, it's the one where one of those guys works for the government during the Cold War and hears from the middle guy that it's all about to go down and they're all probably going to die. First guy and his friend start scheming for how the fuck they're going to get away but middle guy's got his eyes on them and knows they're up to something.

The whole thing is really creepy, it's very low-key. Nobody panics or makes it big fuss, everyone's quiet and on edge the whole time.
>>
>>70337008
>The whole thing is really creepy, it's very low-key. Nobody panics or makes it big fuss, everyone's quiet and on edge the whole time.
i love episodes like that, like the silence.
>>
>>70336816
I'd suggest these episodes or just start from the first episode of the series and work your way up, you won't regret it.

1. A Game of Pool - insightful, deep, makes me want to move out of my parents basement and get a life
2. Nightmare at 20,000 Feet - Shatner's acting alone
3. A Nice Place to Visit - colorful main character with colorful language
4. Time Enough at Last - hits you in the feels
5. The Eye of the Beholder - just all out nutiness
6. Living Doll - Telly Savalas losing his shit

the 80s Lithgow version still has a cool creature.
And the music still gives me chills. And that shot of the Gremlin flying away is creepy too. fuck.
>>
Serving Men is the GOAT episode and all other responses are just pleb reddit shit
>>
>>70336816
Five Characters in Search of an Exit
The Monsters are Due on Maple Street
The Dummy
Walking Distance
I am the Night, Color Me Black

good mix of twist endings, morality lessons, and contemporary politics.
>>
>>70337175
>five characters in search of an exit

5 mins too long syndrome upon rewatch, even though holding attention in one room with only four people is pretty GOAT
>>
>>70337125
What's he gonna feel around on all fours till he finds a pair that are close to his prescription? Now that I think of it, were they trifocals or just reading glasses? They looked like coca cola bottle bottoms, so I'm gonna say he's legally blind without them.
>>
>>70336816
"To Serve Man" is iconic as fuck.
Dont google it or read anything about it. Just watch it spoiler-free.
>>
>>70337211
>Serving Men

it's, to serve man, you peasant
>>
>>70337211
to serve men is one of the most overrated twilight zone episodes and the surest way to out someone who likes to pretend to like TZ despite only having seen less than 15 episodes.
>MUH COOKBOOK
the twist was incredibly obvious from the beginning. the martians look hilariously stupid. the writing isn't good, either. nothing particularly impressive about the acting or directing or shots. it's a very forgettable episode, if it weren't for le epic twist.

why in fuck's name can I not find any episodes of this on Youtube. They're all... "dramatic readings"? What the fuck is this shit? Some fucking autist nerd with a $15 logitech microphone reading the script instead of the original episode. For christ's sake.
>>
>>70337008
i just watched the episode, it was really good and I did not see the plot twist coming. I did think it was odd that the guy and his wife slept in separate beds though.
>>
>>70338020
because it's a classic show that is one of the greatest shows of all time, and CBS still holds the rights

It's all on netflix
>>
>>70337244
>What's he gonna feel around on all fours till he finds a pair that are close to his prescription
better question. what the fuck else would he do? doesn't have to be exactly his scrip, just close. over time he could get closer and closer, certainly good enough to read. he literally has all the time in the world.
>>
>>70338534
But he's an old man in the apocalypse. If he goes wandering around for glasses he will likely die before he can return to the library.

lol he's claiming the twilight zone does not include social commentary. I suppose he expected the sponsor to be too unsophisticated to recognize it. Guess he was right.

I liked this one because it was emotional, instead of the usual twist ending or big reveal.

It also seemed advanced for the time. They had a robot that functioned to the point where it was indistinguishable from humans, then that poses the question of when is a robot smart enough to be considered human?
>>
>>70339788
I've literally never seen this one but just from the picture I can tell you the twist, which is somewhat disappointing. Maybe it's more about the journey though, I don't know.
>>
>>70340246
I wish I could have watched Twilight Zone when I was a child. I figured out the ending to every episode I've seen before ten minutes in. They can still be powerful but it's not the same.
