OP here. I enjoy science, but this was a joke. This was pop-science at best. My main problems with it aren't even that though. It's more that everything about it has been done before and the "characters" boil down to being quip-machines. They're also constantly solving problems for the win! and so there's no tension to it and it's obvious what the conclusion will be despite how many contrived, seemingly insurmountable problems prop up every 5 minutes.

It's good. /tv/ hates it because they expected Mark to be a typical nerd not knowing that NASA only takes the most alpha bad asses for missions like this.
The humor was fine, the science was almost entirely solid, and was overall a good time.
