One classic story about the censorship is for the episode where the guy was making angels the censors demanded they obscured the ass cracks of the victims so they digitally smeared their ass cracks in blood and the censors let it go.
What I think is infinitely more insane is the production value or quality of the gore effects. When that black dude was tearing himself out of the mural in season 2 it looked real. When Chilton got shot in the face with a slo mo replay, Cordell getting his face flayed, shit is oustanding, I do wonder how much money they blew solely on the department creating these props and shit. The best one I thought was the guy's body that was mutilated to resemble a heart at the end of the season 3 premiere.

Funny, my complaint about season 3 was they didn't focus on Pazzi's wife at all. In Ridley Scott's movie Pazzi was based as fuck and really sympathetic because of his dedication to his wife. In the show his wife had like two fucking scenes you fucking pleb, so I never really got the same sense of dedication that the movie version depicted.
The only shit episodes of season 3 were episodes 2 and 3. Agreed, the slo mo shots got really excessive but the premiere was amazing. The Mason Verger shit was gold, they killed him off way too fucking early though. Should've saved him as the final boss of the series. Such a fucking waste to kill off a GOAT villain halfway through the season.

This show didn't die because of piracy. It was simply not accessible to the prime time audience. Hannibal was really heavy shit and it's not something that the average person wanted to watch after work.
I'm also kinda glad it got canceled. The direction it was heading in season 3 was not something I want to see furthered, even though the final episode was some GOAT tier stuff. The stylistic atmosphere was getting out of hand and they were really pushing the gay themes that were unnecessary and unwelcome when compared to the first season. Remember when Hannibal was fucking Alana Bloom? Remember when Will Graham was just a regular guy who didn't want to get too close to someone? I do. At least Margot's sexuality provided some interesting conflict. Other than that, it was just shoved in there. Hannibal was not gay for Will, they had a strong emotional connection. That doesn't mean they want to fuck each other.
