Watched this today since I got to play Xenoshyft last weekend and a friend told me that it was "like that movie Starship Troopers, you know?". Holy fuck was this movie fun. Are the others worth anything?

Sequels are trash. You'd be better off reading the books instead even if the first movie is making fun of them.
Invasion is okay, the only sequel worth watching.
Holy fuck, do not watch the sequels. The first is still amazing, it's kind of incredible how well some of the CGI still holds up today.
I read the book and honestly, Paul Verhoeven was right. It's not a bad read, but the pacing is a little off, and 70% of it is Rico brooding on the realities of war. He ended up making the movie pretty much the opposite of what the book was about, and it totally worked.
