You have to consider the time when the film was released. It had been ten years since TOS was cancelled. The (then) new Enterprise refit was far more detailed and clearly photographed than the blurry, winked out images of the original model they saw in the tv series. The fans actually loved that long sequence because it stimulated in them mixed feelings of nostalgia and wonder which, at that time, was very entertaining, and satisfying.

Okay, here goes..
So basically I have a penis and a scrotum holding two ovular balls called testes.
Now these testes connect to what's known as the prostate gland through a duct called the vas deferens.
Stay with me, okay? Now here, in the prostate, a fluid is secreted and expelled with a fertilizer, so to speak, called sperm.
They combine to form a mixture excretion called semen.
When in a state of sexual arousal, the penis, that long but limp shaft you see here, hardens via a balloon effect that increases the flow of blow within it.
As the intercourse of my species reaches it's "critical state", the prostate expels the semen through a duct that leads to the urethral opening, or the end of my penis, and expels it out into our female's vagina.
I could show you how this actualized if you are interested.

>Alexander Siddig: You know I love hanging out with Nicky deBoer.

>Jordan Hoffman: I see.

>Alexander Siddig: She is just hilarious; great, great girl. And um if I see Colm Meaney we’ll have a drink and bitch at each other. That’s all we do. I realize looking back at my history with him, I went out with him twice a week every week for seven years – drinking. Boy, he can pack em away.

>Jordan Hoffman: I would imagine.

>Alexander Siddig: And all we did was fight. And I guess that’s what they did on the show too. But we fought in real life all the time. He would set me up, he’d take me to Irish bars where they hated English people. I would think they were being racist about the fact that I’m black and they weren’t. The just hated the English people, they would just hear my accent and they’d – and he just laughed his head off.

>Jordan Hoffman: Did you ever actually play darts, though, is the real question.

>Alexander Siddig: No. No. That would be very weird.

Think TNG was better overall but DS9 was nice for the more military flavor with the dominion war and the battle scenes. Anything related to bajor I thought was retarded personally and think Cardassians with their bajoran slave harems were great!

WAY too many images have been posted ITT.

The best /tv/ Trekthreads are mostly devoid of images. Don't care if it's an imageboard -- that's historical fact.

The more images in a Trekthread, the worse it is.

Tourist? But most Trekthreads aren't dominated by imageposting. Also, I invented Trekthreads on /tv/. I posted the very first one when the board opened, back before captchas existed and you could dump tons of images easily. Even then, Trekthreads were mostly discussion-oriented, not based on dumb images. So really, you're grasping at straws.

The Motion Picture is fucking awesome. It's the most hard-sci fi Star Trek actually ever got and feels like a long lost episode. Not to mention it's the only time the Federation actually feels like a real professional organization.

Sure long as fuck VFX shots, but they are acompanied by a fucking awesome creepy as fuck soundtrack and still look fucking mind blowing till this very day.

The worst thing about TMP is that the acting wasn't the best from Lila (like that scene where she gets hit by Vgers lightning, kek) and that scene where they get caught in a wormhole looks fake as fuck when they are just bouncing around in their seats but the camera is completely still and nothing else in the room is moving so you can just see they are sitting there bouncing themselves.

Apart from that, fucking great movie. The Transporter room scene has stuck with me for years.

That being said, my favourite films are Solaris and 2001 so it's probably why I put up with TMP so easily.

TMP is hard sci fi.

FFS it has 10 minute long VFX shots showing how everything works and how things dock and shit.

How is 2001 or Blade Runner or Solaris hard sci fi and TMP isn't? Solaris and Blade Runner have barely any science in them at all and are instead sociological and psychological films.

>feels like a long lost episode
That's because it was.

The whole thing grew out of Star Trek: Phase II. The refit Enterprise, the new bridge, Decker and Ilia. The whole thing was supposed to be a pilot for Paramount's new network, but when that failed through they reworked the script it into a theatrical release.

David Gautreaux (the commander of the outpost destroyed at the beginning of the film) was supposed to be Xon, the new Vulcan science officer (since Nimoy refused to return).

Was it supposed to imply something that the electronic twang noises used for V'ger were also used for the Borg?

I know that Shatner wrote a book about V'ger being the origins of the Borg and baldie was the first one to be assimilated, but is that canon?

Gene, listen to me, I'm done with Trek. I don't need it anymore. I just got the license to make a song about J.R.R. Tolkien's work. Do you know how big that shit is with nerds? Next year, maybe you'll work for me. Bye, Gene.

Did whoever wrote the Archer turning into a frog man episode have any connection to Threshold?

They were not recorded on film.

Man the Borg Queen is such a fucking stupid idea. Who came up with that shit?

What made the Borg so good was they were a collective, then it turned out it was some bizarre hive monarchy.

How fucking lame.

Every other species knows that the Federation are paragons of virtue, they just want to get power and territory so look for any excuse.
