Agree 100% with OP.
Having unfortunately met several psychopaths, I can safely say the scary thing about them is their glibness and superficial charm.
If you don't already know they are dangerous, this glibness will put you in a vulnerable position. You start to relax and trust them when you should really be running for your life.
Hannibal as portrayed by Hopkins was too cold and hostile. None of the indifferent calm glibness of Cox.
