Displays Magneato's powers in a low key manner so power usage shows progress as the film does, which is needed especially for the scenes of X helping him harness them
Develops Magneato's character flaws. He will fuck with his prey before murdering, a sadistic side you don't see in someone like X.
It's also just the best scene in the entire movie. The tension was great. Fassy was charming.
