That's the entire reason GRRM wrote the books. LotR came out when he was 6, he grew up reading high fantasy where kings are noble and wise, elves are serene immortals, and good/evil is 100% black and white.

This part was kind of grey to me. It sounded like Mirri Maz Duur's bandage thing was the real deal, Drogo was fine until he took hers off. Then the Dothraki healer made him one of mud and leaves and stuff that seemed to infect the wound. Drogo was bitching that Mirri's bandage was burning, that's why he took it off. After, Mirri gave Dany shit for not realizing the healing properties of heat and fire.

And coincidentally that all happened in the Season/Book where nobody had any complaints about her and looked forward to the implications of her storyline on the larger narrative.
But having a good "origin story" which that basically was doesn't excuse the horrible contrast of having to watch everything basically fall into her lap over 5 more seasons with minimal effort (fire immunity and dragons given to her by the gods aka Showrunners/GRRM) while everyone on the main continent suffers and you're told over and over it's because they had character flaws and didn't know how to play the game properly.
