So he then gets harassed for doing that.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't: if he says and does nothing, the his fans get antsy. If he watches and reviews it, then he'll have trouble living with himself as a diehard fan of the series. If he does nothing and says that he's doing nothing, then the fans of the movie say that he's a misogynistic fuckwad who should be locked in a room and set on fire.

What reason could there be for expecting a shit storm? People were asking for his thoughts, and he made a video explaining to his viewers he wont be reviewing it. He never even said he did not have an opinion, he said he thought it looked awful. He was not using some grand rhetorical strategy, he was honestly saying he does not want to see a movie that looks bad and that he is not interested in. Still nothing justifies trashing his appearance and person on social media, mostly by people who did not watch the video.

The movie is an absolute mockery of the worst kind. On one side it conveys a blatant, unbelievably stupid political message and on the other, it shows a complete lack of understanding of the source material and what made the original so good. The only way it could work is as a ghostbusters parody.
Also, james rofle is one of the only truly great and creative internetainers (sorry for using such a pleb word), not falling for any stupid trends and still succeeding by doing whatever the fuck he wants. He did nothing wrong with the video, and the reaction to it only shows how fucking idiotic third wave feminism is.
