There's pretty much no way you could know what it meant.
Doss means completely different things in different areas of Scotland. The meaning I just gave you, but if you head about 50 miles north it basically means 'really great'. So Trainspotting would be a fucking doss movie.

hope the screenplay doesn't follow the book too closely, or at least elevates the source material. the sequel, Porno, to Trainspotting, rather sucked. i heard Skagboys was pretty good,though, bu ti haven't bothered reading it yet. maybe it's a mix of both?

Half the appeal was how late 80s/early 90s the movie felt. I don't know enough about film to qualify what made that movie feel the way it did, but afaik no movie after 2000 has successfully executed that feeling.
I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'm keeping expectations low.
