Season 4. Season 4...Ah...Season 4 started with Oliver coming out of retirement (because felicity said ok) and coming back to his city to try and save it from villains, then he failed miserably and turned to Felicity for solace (which she gave because she's perfect like that) then she found out Oliver had a son he kept secret (because the mother of the child agreed to him only keeping in touch with his son if he kept him an ABSOLUTE secret from everyone else, for security reasons), then Felicity flipped out in the middle of a crisis over this and told Oliver to go to hell, making Oliver cry like a faggot. Then the show kep focusing on her every fucking episode: they brought in her mother, her father, her past, her past boyfriend, etcetera...they had Felicity-centric episodes where she lost the use of her legs, another where she regained the use of her legs, another where she saved the day from bees by using only her cunning and wit and so on and so forth.

Oliver finds out he has a son when he and the Flash try to take down Vandall Savage. He tries not to tell Felicity. Felicity is paralyzed after an attack from Darhk, and when she finds out Oliver was lying she leaves him (Despite him having a really good reason not to tell her). Laurel is killed by Darhk, Amanda Waller is killed by some other organization, there's lots of magic n shit. Oh, and they made Mister Terrific the black Felicity

At least the supernatural cast seems to have a lot of fun while making the show. They seem to compensate for being in a terrible show by basically treating the set like a playground. Good choice, that was where it should have ended. This season would have been a decent end point too, since it was a step up from earlier seasons and had a perfect ending all ready to go until they fucked it up in the last few minutes. Still greenlit for three more seasons though, and I'll probably watch all of them for some reason.
Felicity ain't really that bad on Arrow, the problem is that every character other than her has the same purpose and not much of a life outside of dealing with villain of the week. Everyone is a crimefighter apart from her it it just leads to boring fight scenes.
Compare it to The Flash where people have different roles as part of the team and different agendas and some personal sub plots too. Arrow used to have this in season 1 but it's all gone now.

It's a sad state of affairs when Iris in Flash, who was this cockblocking screaming harpy in S1 actually got better in Season 2 and dropped the bitch attitude.

I don't understand this post. In time travel fiction the first act is usually there to set up the rules, then the plot unfolds and we see the story play with those rules.
So yes, time travel does often make sense.
