Top 3 Bonds:
1. Casino Royale
2. GoldenEye
3. Skyfall
this is fact. arguing against this list is poor form.
Only Bond movies worth watching:
Dr. No
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
The Living Daylights
License To Kill
GoldenEye
Tomorrow Never Dies
The World is Not Enough
Casino Royale
Quantum of Solace
Skyfall
Spectre

1. Roger Moore
2. Daniel Craig
3. Timothy Dalton

the rest are top 10-13
>>70002149

TND is goofy and poor paced but is at least entertaining
TWINE is garbage and wasted 2 great villains and a theme on a poorly written and poorly paced movie
>>70001986
All the sixties-era Bond films are worth watching
The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker are both worth watching, the former because it's good and the latter because it's so-bad-its-good
Oh, and the Craig films are okay I guess but hardly worth mentioning with the others
>>70002202
Eh, at least TWINE is unique, and is interesting because of this. TND is just an uninspired rehash of the Lewis Gilbert films
>>69996310
No, he still was one of the best Bonds as always, but the movies were just worse.

>>70002202
No he was right. DaD is shit compared to TND but TND is shit compared to TWINE and all 3 are shit compared to Goldeneye.
It's incredible TND is as decent as it is considering how many rewrites the film had write up to and throughout production.
>>69996375
>>69996375
I liked the two that followed. Like if they came out today, I wouldn't consider my time wasted watching those flicks. DAD is wierd for me. It's bad, but funny and memorable in it's awfulness. Not like QoS/Spectire where it's bad and I slowly forget about it over time. I'll always remember it.
>>70001828
He's too short.
>>70001005
I don't like the direction they took with the Daniel Craig movies, I prefer the camp, silly Bond to the Bourne tribute act that was Quantum of Solace. The Daniel Craig stuff is probably good in it's own right, I just can't get past the departure from the original spirit of the franchise. It takes itself a bit too seriously for it to be fun.
For me:
Dalton>Connery>Brosnan>Moore>Lazenby>Craig
I can't remember Lazenby's performance, so he might be preferable to Moore if I rewatched OHMSS, but Roger Moore was pretty good as Bond most of the time.
>>70001828
Not anymore.

>>70013501

>>70013501
Not many people have seen Remington Steel, at least where I live (UK). But Mrs Doubtfire was definitely big enough to get his face out there, even though he wasn't the star. There was also some disaster movie that did well IIRC.
Playing Bond is on another level, obviously, but I think he was quite recognisable before that.
>>70014212
Dantes Peak
>>70010233
This desu.
No one here apparently remembers any of the Moore films and how hokey and lightweight they were.
THE WORLD IS NOOOOOOOOT ENOUGH
BUT ITS SUCH A PERFECT PLACE TO STARTcomfy film
The Matador, best James Bond followup movie ever. I swear it must be where they ripped half the ideas for Archer from.
>>70014212
>Not many people have seen Remington Steel, at least where I live (UK).
Because it was a network tv show in the 80s. Its no longer relevant and mostly forgotten now but it was what put him in the public eye. Mrs doubtfire came after the show had been off the air.
>>70013674
Have you not seen it? Its pretty good and if you squint your eyes and tilt your head you can pretend its another bond flick.
>>70001986
>Tomorrow Never Dies
Total garbage. Replace that with Die Another Day
>>70013368
>I don't like the direction they took with the Daniel Craig movies, I prefer the camp, silly Bond to the Bourne tribute act that was Quantum of Solace. The Daniel Craig stuff is probably good in it's own right, I just can't get past the departure from the original spirit of the franchise. It takes itself a bit too seriously for it to be fun.
Agreed, after DAD they tried way too hard to distance themselves from the campy aspects of the franchise, and what we got were spiritless, generic action films that misuse the Bond label.
>Dalton>Connery>Brosnan>Moore>Lazenby>Craig
Exactly how I would rank them
>I can't remember Lazenby's performance, so he might be preferable to Moore if I rewatched OHMSS, but Roger Moore was pretty good as Bond most of the time.
Lazenby's performance isn't very good, but his insecurity does lend a vulnerability to the character that is interesting to see. I wouldn't say he's better than Moore though, who was actually pretty good when really tried, though it wasn't often. I like his performance in FYEO
>>70017326
None of the Moore films are as retarded as DAD, crocodile or no crocodile. At the very least they can boast cool practical effects instead of the shitty CGI in Die Another Day
Also I think the Moore-era films are enjoyable for what they are, and Moonraker is actually one of the most entertaining films in the franchise.
>>69998534
It wasn't "that" bad when it came out. Shitty CGI was kinda the norm. It has aged like yak milk though.
>>70001789
This is why I want that faggot to do two more. If the next two were even close to Skyfall and Casino Royal I would be happy.
>>70001756

yeah balloon man was ahead of its time.
DaD haters seem like they froth at the mouth and abandon all reason when it comes to the movie.

>yeah balloon man was ahead of its time.
That scene is hilarious IMO
>DaD haters seem like they froth at the mouth and abandon all reason when it comes to the movie.
I don't hate it at all, I enjoy it in a so-bad-its-good kinda way, just like most of the Roger Moore movies.

that doesn't mean shit, are you going to say Michael Keaton's Batman is the worst because he was by far the shortest.
>>70013390
true, but he was Bond just as much as anyone else.
He also had the best movie in the entire franchise. That must make a lot of people butthurt.
QoS and Spectre are NOWHERE near as awful as DaD or A View To A Kill.
>>70020898
back to your Marvel-Reddit quipfests you baby Boomers.
I'd rather have a serious stories and elevate the Bond films into something more than just vapid entertainment.
That starts by actually giving Bond Characterization (which some seem to hate but it's a necessary in any compelling story)
>>70021398
that don't matter. if it did, Latezby would be the best bond.
>>70021640
>le epic Bourne ripoff meme xDD
Wow you really proved me wrong! It's not like Bourne redefined the action filmmaking genre or anything? right? oh wait..
QoS is the only Bourne Ripoff, Skyfall and Spectre (and especially Casino Royale) are nothing like Bourne.

>>70022288
no sir. It had the best villain and extremely well choreographed action sequences that blew every other Bond movie before it out of the water.
The facial acting by Craig and Mads during the poker scene is among the best acting this franchise has ever seen.
Plus it's one of the few films where Bond isn't a self-insert fantasy and rather an actual character.
>>70022629
Skyfall looks great but lacks in every other department
Its meh at best
I think the only shit Brosnan Bond film is The World Is Not Enough, even Robbie Coltrane, Robert Carlyle and Judy Dench couldnt save that turd.
>>69996375
DaD gets a bet rep but if you take out Halle Berry's performance its pretty entertaining, id probably put it over Tomorrow Never dies it wasnt for her, she's that bad.
>>69996310
No.
Same goes for any actor that steps into a massve franchise.
If you're not already going places, it's unlikely to make you go places.
Harrison Ford & Natalie Portman were already big before Star Wars, Mark Hammil and Hayden Christensen were not. Their trajectory afterwards continued as if they'd never done Star Wars.
>want to watch Dad
>it has Halle Berre in it
>want to watch TND
>It has some asian woman in it
Guess I'll have to settle for TWINE
>>70001915
Martin Campbel is the man they pull in to save Bond from itself. His two are unquestionably the best in the last few decades.
I don't think it's fair to judge the new ones against the old ones because so much has changed.
>>70024343
You know who'd be good for Bond 25?
Not even memeing.
>>70022629
>no sir. It had the best villain and extremely well choreographed action sequences that blew every other Bond movie before it out of the water.
Oh please, Le Chiffre is one of the least interesting villains, he's bland as hell. The action is good, but far from the best.
>The facial acting by Craig and Mads during the poker scene is among the best acting this franchise has ever seen.
The poker scene is retarded, the dumbest scene in the movie. It's like no one in the room actually knows how to play poker, who the fuck wrote that shit? It should have been Baccarat anyway
>Plus it's one of the few films where Bond isn't a self-insert fantasy and rather an actual character.
Yeah, a boring stone-faced thug with no personality. What a character
Also
>giving a shit about RT scores
Jesus
Brosnan Bond is the most OP Bond of all.
This makes Trevelyan the strongest and most dangerous villain, since he actually beat him in a fight and would have killed him if Natalya hadn't shown up with a helicopter.

Goldeneye and WiNE were both great.
Best movie.
>>70024423

Problem is he can do whatever he wants and is unlikely to want Bond.

Skyfall just felt a bit too much like a 50th anniversary film, and deviated heavily from the typical structure of a Bond film. It's a solid movie in its own right. The hacking scene was unforgivable though. Good thing the chase that immediately followed was great.
