I really think Bran didn't intend for this to happen, it was 3ER who brought Bran there in the first place, apparently *only* so that this Hodor thing could happen.
3ER said "It begins..." to the Knight's King when he saw him, right? Makes me think this was his plan all along, to get Bran marked and start the plot moving.
What did Jon say to that guy before he left the Wall? "Don't let it fall down while I'm away?" Makes me think that the Wall will actually fall down due to Bran crossing the Wall and the Knight's King being able to follow him.
