Is Unfriended the only film in history that is better viewed on a laptop than cinema/proper screen?
>>
>>69926055
the first kill is the only good one though. The rest are ridiculously lame and the ending was unoriginal.
>>
>>69926770
wait the piece of paper one was pretty good too but like why couldn't he just hint at what the paper said without stating it directly smdh
>>
>>69926770
>>69926884
Agreed that the ending was really bad, a let down.

But overall it was remarkably good and not laughably bad for a film that's about a dead girl haunting Facebook because she pooped her pants which does seem like an achievement.

The technical presentation of it all was very impressive, so I cut it a bit of slack for the areas that were a bit shit

That video is over 60 seconds I am not watching it
>>
>>69927112
yeah I can't fault the execution. It was very believable and I loved whenever the screen/video would glitch out and cause a static haemorrhage on the screen. Especially when eyes are involved.

First kill was extremely creative. Wish they thought more along those lines and not some bullshit haunted blender! haunted hairdryer!

remake when?

btw you played Her Story? It's a better execution of the idea imho.

>>69927402
I was expecting that the guy just nitpicks the whole movie for over a hour
>>
>>69927409
The glitching/artifacting stuff was very well done, agreed, although bordering on overuse. Just googled the first kill and missed a key part of what made that scene effective oops. Didn't mind the other kills, some ok gore but yeah would have been nice if there was a bit more to it than that. It sounds as though a sequel has been greenlit though.

And I did play her story yes, don't think they're really that comparable but at the same time and I can understand why you would.

>>69927460
Ok, I don't deny that it's easily nitpickable, it's by no means going to go down as a Shining or Alien equivalent but as a movie to put on your laptop and watch with gf you can do much worse

Because liking a movie has nothing to do with the movie's quality. Although rating a movie is a subjective thing to do, actually liking something is even moreso. You can like or dislike a movie for a hole host of reasons, while ratings are for saying how good it is.

I could watch films like the Town and Triple 9 to all eternity.

Nippon Sengoshi Madamu Onboro No Seikatsu is a nice history lesson by SI, but if you aren't in a correct mood, it will fast become an even nicer nap. It's an irrelevant film but if you're working the director. I'm actually surprised with how many people saw it on IMDB and LTBX.

michael mann is a meme director who has recently been colonized by vulgar auterists, ie low-to-medium iq """"film buffs"""" desperately trying to signal high intelligence by clutching to a director who is ignored by the masses but also traditionally ignored by the critics; what they don't realize is that this is because he's a shit filmmaker who possesses none of the qualities that allows one to succeed in either the hollywood sphere nor the arthouse circle, making him a grotesque frankenstein's monster of mainstream guns n' robbers tropes and facile pseudo-arthouse sensibilities. mann believes a slow pan across a shelf to reveal a derrida book is profound, just as his cheerleaders think quoting baudrillard out of context for their flowery, substanceless review makes them insightful

>>69937244
Simply put, you have a low cinematic IQ, or some sort of Stockholm syndrome, from overexposure to bland, safe, PC and souless mass-produced blockbusters, which has conditioned you into accepting the absolute lowest-common denominator standards in filmmaking, writing and cinematography as somehow acceptable, when you should in fact feel nothing but contempt or disgust for any Kevin Feige-conveiced product.

Even strictly in the field of capeshit entertainment, where the bar has always been pretty low, since they're primarly a children media, the level of genuine quality and creative abilities (which comes from studios giving freedom to an auteur with a strong personality and vision towards the material) has kept dropping since the 90's.

When Raimi's Darkman/Spider-Man, Del Toro's Blade 2/Hellboy, Burton's Batman 2 or Bird's The Incredibles offered innovative and playful set pieces, meaningful and relevant themes, each with a very distinct, appropriate tone and truly cinematic aesthetics (simply compare the lighting or editing to today's equivalents), none of these qualities are to be found in Civil War or any of the previous MCU entries. This is why Edgar Wright got fired from Ant-Man. This is why Feige keeps hiring visionless point-and-shoot directors who come from TV or comedy, colorblind cinematographers and art/set design teams who seem to be in love with grey, sterile hangers for some unexplainable reason. Action scenes are now being conceived by CGI teams months before the movie begins shooting and all follow the exact same formula.

Even as a child, I couldn't imagine being dazzled or amused by those turds, as they're utterly devoid of any charm, colors, magic or imagination.

how do I get into westerns? I watched the Searchers, which is suppose to be one of the best ones out there, and it was good but not great.

My dad has always watched a ton of westerns and I've passively seen quite a few, I just don't know the names of any of them. and I've never really enjoyed them and typically hate the aesthetic a lot of them have. My favorite westerns were made after the western era.

Otherwise, I love reading westerns, particularly the dark ones.

He's great. Actually just got done watching Gate of Flesh, which is a departure from the Yakuza stuff I've seen from him. Pretty good, if you haven't seen it. Even if I don't think a movie of his is amazing, he never makes a boring movie, and there's always at least something going on stylistically -- like you said, great directing

>seventh seal is bad
Why? I don't think its amazing, but it isn't bad.

>breathless is mediocre
It's certainly a film that's more impressive because of its formalistic innovation and use of intertextuality rather than good characters. I'm not a big fan of it, but I understand why it's acclaimed and I think it's an interesting film that everyone should see and ruminate on

I don't think there's reason to watch seventh seal, so goofy and imprecise, when dozens of better Bergman films exist
>>
Seventh Seal reminded me of the Witcher series

Why do you need italics when you could just capitalize the beginning letters like a normal human being?
>>
>>69958187
because normal grammatical rules prevent capitalizing certain words like "the" at the start of the title of a work and i'd rather sidestep it entirely
>>
>>69958282
You're not even capitalising "i", what the fuck do you care about grammatical rules.

You're simultaneously too autistic and not autistic enough.
>>
>>69958282
>because normal grammatical rules prevent capitalizing certain words like "the" at the start of the title of a work and i'd rather sidestep it entirely
Fuck this gay ass shit, I capitalize the "thes", the "at", the "ins", etc.. And so should any self-respecting person

>The Night Of The Hunter
>The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre
>Picnic At Hanging Rock

>>69958392
As this lad said, git gud in your autism
>>
>>69958431
capitalizing "the" and "of" triggers me though
>>
>>69958431
Speaking of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, what are some other great adventure films from that era?
>>
>>69958458
BUT WHY? It's the right thing to do
>>
>>69958525
in my opinion the right thing to do is just capitalize everything

pls stop bully
>>
>>69958496
How about The ADVENTURES Of Robin Hood, Gunga Din and Dodge City
>>
>>69958525
That's how black people type, you should finna be using your capitalisation with restraint cuh.
>>
>>69958617
Fuck me, what a dumb nigger. If at least you were doing it out of style, but no, it's girly shit like >le grammatical rules and 'it triggers me'
>>
>>69958653
Gunga Din sounds like fun. I'll check it out.
Probably pass on Dodge City as not in the mood for a Western.

>>69958753
you're saying it would be better if i were doing it as some sort of retarded affectation?

it just looks better to me than piecemeal capitalization of seemingly random words

>>69958797
this, great fun
>>
>>69958617
From my point of view, the partial capitalisers are evil.
>>
>>69958812
If for your gay brain style is 'retarded affectation', then don't even bother.
And when you're capitalizing titles, they are not random words, they are units of a specific whole, and should be treated in the same way.
>>
>>69958797
Been meaning to watch it for years. I'll try get onto it sooner rather than later, I suppose.
