A season later and all we find out is Brynden is showing Bran bits of the past without even explaining why he needs to see this shit other than it's interesting.
We get told Bran will leave soon and that first he needs to know everything. Brynden doesn't mention either what he's leaving for or why he needs to know everything. Then he dies next episode.
I can't see any clear purpose, endgame, usefulness, goal or anything, except some vague speculations that he'll be able to warg into dragons, humans and shit which is all fan spec.
