Hodor wasn't the worst part of this episode. There's so much worse going on. The most noticeable to me, compared to earlier seasons is the lack of fitting atmosphere and thought out dialogues. I don't know who is deciding things on this show but the air of mysticism and realism is gone from this show and it became a cringe fest. Another part of my theory is that the Night's King is unique, he seems to be the only Walker that got the obsidian placed into him considering he just touches babies to turn them into Walkers and the other Walkers look different and have hair, so it might be that introducing a magical "ingredient" like the dragonglass outside of the proper ritual, disrupts the magic of the Walkers and kills them.
