This movie was a game changer for me. The atmosphere, the slow build up, Colin the Janitor... I've seen it at least 10 times. Every horror movie I've seen after could never compare.

Not awful, but some silly things regardless. Shoeing in Pyramid Head because he looks cool lmao. Switching Harry Masons gender for no discerning reason. The cult in general. The over reliance on action rather than psychological horror.
All of the above are Hollywood though. The movie would have bombed hard if it didn't follow the usual tropes.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D was the one that overused action.
The original was mainly psychological and eerie.

Good but the PG13 rating really hurt it. Don't get me wrong, it's comfy as fuck but I remember, as a kid who pumped countless quarters into the arcade game, I was severely disappointed by the lack of gore.

I'd also put Prince of Persia, Final Fantasy, Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil 1 on the 'mediocre' list.
