The Emperor should reflect what he is in the books.
An unknown mysterious literal God.
He should not look human, he shouldnt have a face, he should be a suit of golden armor illuminated by swathes of light and his voice should be booming and angelic in the few words he deigns to say to the mortals around him.
All the books for the msot part shy away from directly writing about the person, or in person of the Emperor, because he isnt supposed to be a character in the universe, more a force.
