Ant-Man is honestly on-par with the first Iron Man. It has most of the first Iron Man's strengths: great lead, neat action sequences (Ant-Man's were better), well paced plot. But most of the same flaws: Villain is underdeveloped and has the same powers as the hero and the love interest feels out of place.
But its really solid, they scaled down the story (no pun intended) and it worked out pretty great.

Part of SCHAT's character is that he ends up paying the price for his sense of character. Assuming you watched his movie, you would know that a good example of this is when he whistleblowed against the corrupt company that he was working for when he discovered that they were stealing money from their customers and got fired for it. Then he breaks into his former boss's house and hacks his computer in order transfer back the stolen money and (stupidly) drives his car into his pool to prove a point.
SCHAT helping out Steve's side, while understandable that it makes some audiences question is reasons for doing so considering the risk if caught by the government and his character arc in his movie of redeeming himself, is again ultimately a part of his character. Even if it means he risks damaging his just repaired relationship with his daughter and ex-wife.
