bronn vs vardis was excellent.
nice to see someone with/without the helm on, and the swordmanship was fine (not a connoisseur by any mean, but it looked fine for television ).
the music is fine, the acting is fine (bronn small move when he refuses the shield), the characterization is perfect ( Lysa telling Vardis to finish Bronn, obviously to the fact that he's getting fucking rekt and can't do a thing about it ), and sometime that doesn't happen anymore on the show, all the little things are great.
Bronn knocking the candlestick, the vardis looks at where bronn is/if he's rushing him before carefully walking over it, stuff like that.
The fight was close to perfect imho, and not just for the choreography, for everything.
Sandor/Beric was fine too, but there was less of these little things...
Plus, they cut a few things that were nice in the books.
Sandor being horrified ( and not just 'slightly angry' ) at the flaming sword...
Crying and begging for help when his arm is on fire...
And the intro to the fight was better in the books too.

I really don't get this meme where people think Ned acted out of character or dishonourably in the fight.
Howland was the one who stabbed Dayne in the back, not him, and all Ned did was kill him quicker than his mortal inury would have taken to.
If anything, Ned giving the final blow was quite clearly the most kind/honorabke thing to do, since it was obviously a mort fucking injury and Dayne was dying in pain.
The comparison between Ned and Jaime doesn't even work because Ned was only stabbed in the leg in their confrontation and was obviously only wounded in a relatively minor way - Dayne was stabbed through the fucking throat and had no way of surviving it.

The fact that Westerosi use VS exclusively to forge thrusting weapons is pretty fucking dumb. A cruciform broadsword doesn't need to be sharp anywhere but at the tip. Oh no, I absolutely agree with basically everything you said, but I think my biggest point of contention is that the Valyrian swords forged in pre-doom Valyria were also the standard cruciform style. I just feel like it's king of odd that the Valyrians themselves used the same kind of swords common in Westeros, when no other cultures in Essos used anything remotely similar. Also, it doesn't take that long for weapon styles to change. They're mostly designed to combat whatever form of armor happens to be in favor in any given area. I just think that if the people forging Valyrian Steel weapons realize that their swords are basically armor-proof, they wouldn't immediately figure out the best possible way to utilize a steel that is impossibly sharp and tougher than any other (which would be a slashing weapon).

I never got the sense that the people of Westeros ever had a clear enough manner of communication with the freehold to actually give them specifications to make weapons.
Just seemed like selling wares to foreigners who would certainly like some of the best swords in the world.
It's kind of a shame GRRM didn't really make the Valyrians that comprehensive as a people. Style wise they really aren't much different from the Andals other than their obsession with black.

Well, with book Theon I felt like he was too at ease with betraying Robb. Sure, there is an undercurrent of this sense that he doesn't feel at ease being an Ironborn, and subconsciously he does keep idolizing Eddard in terms of Lordly conduct, but it is subconscious.
I like show Theon a bit better because his feelings are more divided and he is clearly fully aware of them and wrestling with them. I think it gels a bit better with ADWD Theon and sense of regret.

There really aren't any inherit benefits to having VS armor. It's a little bit lighter, sure, but not enough to make a huge difference.
And wasting that much steel that works better as a weapon for armor that doesn't provide any more protection than regular castle forged steel is just a waste.

Valyrian steel used to be more prominent and a good deal of lords had a Valyrian steel sword. It's not beyond reason to think that the Freehold was cranking them out to the specifications of rich overseas lords.

Would it be basically equal steel at that point though? If it never loses its edge as an edged weapon, that means the steel it's self doesn't deform. Whether this would make a suit of armor with the same properties better than a regular one is debateable (I doubt you'd want to get hit by something blunt), it should be better against piercing weapons.

The swords of the Targaryens are in the same style as those of Westeros. There's no reason to think they specifically crafted special swords for foreigners.
There's the potential that the houses had the swords reforged themselves to suit their likings but still there is no style difference between the arms and armors of the Valyrians to those of the Andals that we've seen.
Their society was Roman-esque, their arms and armors weren't.

Dual wielding isn't the most practical but it works IRL and it's been done before.
Crucial aspect being that the main blade is in the dominant hand and a shorter blade, for parrying, in the other hand.
Thai warfare also used two blades but they're shorter and more manageable than using two fucking longswords.
